I think when something is sad, and I can cry over a fan character or oc in a way that isn't in anger (like crying over someone who made a mary sue oc who people like a lot which could then anger someone to the point of possibly crying? not me but that's an example...) it's good.
If it's supposed to be sad, then it's sad.
