Description ooo

rainmeter desktop overlay: pure eye candy-no function

first of all it´s an idea...

An overlay for the complete screen.
to add some lighting ambience (or whatever) to your WHOLE desktop - including the windows.

It´s just for the atmosphere, like a wallpaper - that doesn´t have any real function - but in front of the desktop!

I think there can be a thousand interesting ways to use this idea, so do so!

This one is for rainy days, to get some sunshine on your screen - with a shadow...

***************************************************************

to install copy folder to your rainmeter/skins folder

- click refresh all
- choose skin from configs menu
- position: stay topmost (!)
- check: click through (very important),
- uncheck: hide on mouse over, draggable

****************************************************************

this version is for 1440x900
as I said right now just an idea, maybe other resolutions will follow...

Actually I'm using the same thing now on Avedesk since i had it already running anyway for a taskbar shadow and it uses way less ram 500kb compared to rainmeter 15mb and yes the overlay was the only thing i was using in rainmeter

Leuchtstoff In reply to my99 [2008-09-19 06:18:14 +0000 UTC]

never had a look at the ram for that, actually more than 10 mb! I never used Avedesk, if you want you can release it for Avedesk.

Well there really no point releasing it in Avedesk cause its as simple and loading in the
overlay, setting in the size, position, etc.

Cool idea! With rainmeter it's possible to do more dynamic-like wallpapers, once I did a similar one which over-layed the whole desktop, hardwood lights imitation - with a MAC switch to turn 'em on&off

Leuchtstoff In reply to fediaFedia [2008-09-17 12:18:31 +0000 UTC]

yes, rainmeter still has some potential...

fediaFedia In reply to Leuchtstoff [2008-09-17 12:25:03 +0000 UTC]

It is behind everything, but it's a PNG image made in photoshop on a empty hardwood wallpaper (the one w\o lights). And you can switch it off and on

PS DeviantArt shows hidden messages in the message center anyway

lol, I hid it cause after some time I thought, hmm, maybe write it differently, and then, hmm, I think I misunderstood completely. Sorry

it´s just, I wondered what it really has to do with rainmeter, but now I understood what you ment

or did I get something wrong?

nah i should work if u do it with the original aero theme ive heard ^^ but u cant implant it in the wb theme. but u can make a custom shellstyle

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Leuchtstoff In reply to invaderjohn [2008-10-13 15:21:36 +0000 UTC]

hmm, with the original aero it doesn´t, only with windows classic. And yes, I can´t get wb to do so...
but I WANT it, it´s really nice. well, maybe I try to make a custom shellstyle..
