The other day Mark (kram666) mentioned the phrase "skyscrapers in space" and I was inspired to do yet another series of shiny buildings with the backgrounds of the cosmos! There are five here [link] .

They really embody my expression of the theme "NOVA : Hunting the Hidden Dimension" that stormymay888 posted in her journal here

Documentary of the Week FolderDon't ya just love science? Maybe a little history even? Each week I will be posting a link to a super awesome documentary and I want to see how it inspires you! There will be a corresponding folder named after the video for you to submit your work...Entries due by Saturday!

Rules:
Must be a fractal or fractal manipulation
Must be inspired by the weeks program
Must link to this journal

Each weeks winner will receive:
a feature on our front page
a feature in my journal
a free commission

any other donations or documentary ideas are certainly welcome...

DOCUMENTARY OF THE WEEK:

My entry is the third in the series

Please take a look at the enlarged view to see the details many of which are caused by reflections! Thanks so much for looking and all your other support!

Thanks!

You can make the walls transparent from the inside so yes, you can have a great view from all sides! LOL!

This is that map, but not really right angle. I can't find better angle, sorry :/

LeonieZurakowsky In reply to XanTyp [2012-08-06 23:36:41 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for doing that! I see the resemblance!

It is possible to make 3D objects (as you would in Blender) using m3d but the process is labourious and difficult - also they'd have too many faces and vertices to be practically imported into most 3d worlds and games!

Well the program is free!

These buildings have the typical Earth like environments on the inside and by that time, 'they''ve figured out how to provide all humans with a good living!

Great images in your latest series!
James Blish wrote a series of sci-fi novels Cities In Flight about whole cities traveling through space - These could be the covers.

Wow, thanks for saying that! The books seem to be a great representation of how I view a lot of my images! I wonder what it means! LOL!

I'm just so obsessed with great squarie views!

I'm going to request at least the first of those novels from my local library right away!

They might have aged, but I remember them fondly - my diplomatic way of distancing myself from them if you don't like them

LeonieZurakowsky In reply to Taojoe [2012-08-04 22:04:15 +0000 UTC]

Hehe! It's funny how some things from the past hold up well and others don't! You just never know until you try them.

For example the Philip K. Dick books are still as great as when I first started reading them at age 15 in 1970 or so!
