So I got a tumblr message asking for my take on the 2004 movie boys, and as, embarrassingly enough, I've always been a huge fan of the dorky trash movie (It's what got me into Thunderbirds, I know, I know: blame John getting blown up bc I sure do) I couldn't resist.Jeff -> Alan -> Scott
Gordon -> Virgil -> John -> Penelope
Observations: John came out suspiciously handsome, Lex Shrapnel is not that handsome, Scott looks like someone broke his nose in a air force bar fight once and it never quite healed right, Penny is literally superhumanly gorgeous 10/10 out of my league, Jeff is always SO frowny, Alan’s a tiny baby fluffernutter, Virgil’s got his green and his pine-cone hair like TAG which is funny, but Gordon’s flightsuit is red bc they made him pilot Three for who knows what reason, and Alan’s tb4 yellow, looking at it, daft movie, also they actually sort of look related unlike TAG which is nice if hard to tell them apart in the actual movie, Conclusion: I really enjoyed this. Thoughts? xx

I heard about how bad this movie was, and when I saw the DVD on clearance, I nabbed it. Turns out, it's not as bad as everyone says- it's not very faithful to the source material, but neither the actors or Jonathan Frakes can be blamed for this- the project had changed course a few dozen times (it started when Polygram owned ITC, first as an all-CGI movie, then a potential vehicle for the Baldwin brothers (w/ Sean Connery as Jeff), but when Polygram was bought by Universal, it fell through the cracks.
When it emerged, Universal had changed it into their counterpart for Spy Kids in a sense; the actors and Frakes did well with what they were given. The special effects and props were all well and good- especially the customized Ford Thunderbird they made into the new FAB1. (Get the joke? They went with Ford because Rolls-Royce apparently turned down their offer.) I myself first heard about it via a trailer on a VHS we had of Shrek 2 years ago- I wondered what the heck it was, but then forgot about it. Years later, I rediscovered it (and of course the Gerry Anderson original) and became a fan. And this movie was perfection compared to what Fox Kids chopped the original series into, and the later abomination that was dubbed Turbocharged Thunderbirds.

I'm honestly not sure if I was brought into thunderbirds with the 2004 movie or original show but I've always loved this movie too I mean I've always just seen this movie and the planned sequel (it WAS planned don't want to confuse anyone lol) as explaining how he became the pilot of A FREAKING SPACESHIP at 18 and at some point in the sequel he would actually become the primary pilot of thunderbird 3 (I say primary as it looks like it requires 3 people in order to pilot it lol)

I would of switched the colours of Alan's and Gordon's suits as they would of switched them at some point in the planned sequel (It WAS planned don't want to confuse anyone lol) but also YOU FORGOT FERMAT AND TIN TIN XD (in an oddly EOS'ish scream)

tbh I more ran out of motivation, if i'd done Fermat and Tintin I'd have had to have gone the whole hall and done Parker and Kyrano and Tintin's Mom and the Hood and Mullion and terrifying teeth lady... so really it's probably better that no one witness that horror again XD

Ah man I got into Thunderbirds the exact same way, with the 2004 movie :') I was going through a frenzy and watched all the Philip Winchester (The actor who plays Scott!) movies I could find and Thunderbirds was one of them, and man I fell hard. It's such a dorky movie but I loved it (plus Winchester is one of my favorite actors so it was all just a perfect bonus)
You drew all of them so well though, you nail character/facial features so well! (plus super fun to see fanart of the movie as well aahah)
