Description Another scratchart piece to add to my gallery; a commission from my grandma for a hummingbird. It isn't completed yet - you can see the outline for the flower to the right of the bird - but I was nervous of moving on without scanning just the bird itself.

I have no idea what technique to use for the flower, since it's a smooth-surfaced thing with varying shading. This means that for me to have lighter/darker areas, I have to spread out razor blade strokes from each other, which makes things furry-looking. Maybe that's why there isn't much scratchart of flowers...Any ideas of what to do?

Looks beautiful. I wish I knew what to tell you- but I know nothing of this kind of art. Perhaps google up some scratch art + flower websites? I mean maybe you can just leave large areas of the flower with no scratch marks, and just do fairly solid scratch marks for the shading? I have no idea.
