I thought I might come along and leave a well thought out review as someone who knows a thing or two about good art.
Let me begin with the characters. What we appear to have here is some sort of tribal witch, or healer possibly a druid who is holding a dying dragon infant. The dragonling like a cat clings to life however it can, its claws visibly digging into the motherly witch as she attempts to comfort it. Β The wound looks serious, but is not detailed enough to give the viewer a true sense of what the lizards chances of surviving are.
The witches look says a few things about what she is thinking. Is she perhaps speaking to the dragonβs soul? Is she attempting some sort of spiritual magic? Perhaps it is already too late. It's hard to say as instead of looking directly at her charge the witch is staring into the distance. I look at her hand and ask myself, did she try to save its life only to realize it is pointless? Her face, anatomy and garments are amazing, personally as a suggestion I would have had her wearing a hood of some description, and have a sickle attached to her belt. Just to give her the nice tribal witch or druid look.
The birds here are a nice touch and are a nice dash of color, as they are looking on quite curiously.
The scenery itself is fairly sparse as all we have is a gnarled old tree, with a hint of other trees losing their leaves in autumn. This scenery does however direct the viewer's eyes towards the key characters, and it does this very nicely.
If I were to offer a sincere grade for this work I would give it a generous 8.5 out of 10. I can easily give it a solid 9.5 for the character of the healer and her dying dragon, but the piece as a whole could still have benefited for a more detailed backdrop. That being said no work is truly ever perfect, but what the artist attempted to do was capture the imagination with a lovely illustration and I firmly believe they managed that quite well.
So a sincere well done from me V, Marius. Cheers!

It's beautiful! I love her determination to help the wounded dragon even if it causes herself some pain. Β

great picture!!
(I would find it odd if a dragon felt comfort from the sound of a heartbeat...)

This painting could inspire a story!Β
I love the graceful, maternal, warmth the woman exudes.
Her scaly cargo is so precious to her that she doesn't even acknowledge the pain it's claws create while gripping and tearing her skin. She is a courageous protector and a skilled healer. She feels the wounded dragon's heartbeat grow fainter as she travels through the dark forest. She will use her magic and knowledge of medicinal plants to save her little friend. But first she must find her way out of the enchanted forest. It's labyrinthine maze of dark trees and damp fog is filled with ancient predators. She is not safe here.Β
She soon realizes she is being followed by a trio of tiny birds. Her feathered companions curiously observe her as they flutter about the tree branches. Desperate to find her way out of the woods, she follows them.Β
Soon the scenery changes and a path is revealed out of the enchanted forest. A sunlit path is uncovered mere feet from her. But as she quickly makes her way in that direction, the feathered trio begin to circle around her tweeting and squawking in alarm.Β
She stops and observes her surroundings. She see's nothing.
Confused, exhausted, and sensing no danger she continues on her path only to be bombarded once more by her annoying avian friends.Β
"Well then...where am I supposed to go?" She asks in frustration.Β
The trio dart away from the bright path and disappear through a dense growth of prickly vines and unkempt cedars.Β
She nearly decides to ignore the birds entirely, but hesitantly peeks through the vegetation anyway.Β
She takes three steps into the imposing tangle of vines and branches and almost falls forward when the illusion breaks.Β
She now stands on a green mountain side. The wind blowing tall grass in hypnotic waves.
She was out. She was free.Β
A gasp escapes her mouth as she looks behind her and realizes she had been going in circles for hours. The enchanted forest was endlessly changing it's path. Once inside it was nearly impossible to find a way out as it was always a deception. Had she ignored the birds the sunlit path would have led her straight off an abrupt cliff.Β
She looks at her feathered trio, now perched on a rock, and gives them a warm smile and thanks.Β
They begin to happily preen themselves as she hurries on her way home. Her dragon friend's heartbeat is now dangerously weak. She must save him.Β
She will save him.Β
