what this isnt a detailed vector work of a person in a curious pose?!!?! wtf i dont want to see some building!!! FUCK!!...

nice work, i really like the way you cut this and the angle, "the silent giant". excellet work on the detailing reflection. i like this new path you've chosen, it suites you and its a nice change from the norm.
i am curious to see more of this style from you.

It really not nescessary to make the effort to tell me you don't like my piece, if actually had constructive crit i would be more than willing to listen.

Sekka [2005-06-10 20:01:26 +0000 UTC]

Nice. Not as good as most building vectors I usually see, they go more for realism which I prefer, but if this is the style you are trying to nail you have done it well.

lee25 In reply to Sekka [2005-06-10 21:13:34 +0000 UTC]

"not as good as most building vectors" - is it really nescessary to be so rude?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sekka In reply to lee25 [2005-06-10 23:21:40 +0000 UTC]

I do apologise if I came accross rude, I didn't mean to be and you should know that.

As the rest of my post implied, I am merely stating it doesn't have the realism which most building vectors have. That is all.

Sowwy

lee25 In reply to Sekka [2005-06-11 00:19:15 +0000 UTC]

appology accepted. But to be honest I am very sensitive to what people say, ive noteiced that the more 'success' ive had the more blunt people tend to get, it feels as if 'oh lee25 is popular so i can say whatever i want'. The comment you gave sounded like its no good becasue its not realistic enough, I find it astonishing that people in this day and age still think that that the more realistic a depiction an object the 'better' it is.

lee25 In reply to lee25 [2005-06-11 02:26:21 +0000 UTC]

A few people have siad that it does'nt look right yet fail to give me a contrete answer as to why. Perhaps the intention was to create a snese of unease, through the unusual composition.

I don't mean to be rude but "I may be crap at design and illustration, but I have an eye for what looks right and what doesn't" does the first part of the sentance not contradict the last part?

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

Sekka In reply to lee25 [2005-06-11 01:52:42 +0000 UTC]

Hence why I also said "If that's the style you are trying to get, well done". You know I love your work and respect what you do, but I was merely trying to give a point of view. That's all. It's just something about buildings done too simplisticly in vector, it doesn't seem right to me. I may be crap at design and illustration, but I have an eye for what looks right and what doesn't, and something just seems 'odd' about this image. That's all.

nice image, not one of your best, but nice.

I think its the way its been fragmented that I dont like. not sure tho.

vector work is good, just not sure about the "broken" look to it.

dont get me wrong.... im all up for experimentation... take any comments I make as a "view".

its nothing personal.

I love your work. Im just letting you know what works and what doesn't in MY eyes.

I wouldn't be watching you if I didn't think you were original and your work was different.

learn from peoples comments, and dont take it personally.

cheers. (hope your not too p*ssed off)

I don't want false praise but when I get people telling me they do not like my work it really affects me in that it makes me feel crap. It may seem like im overreacting, and maybe i am but ive been tolerating it and its got to the point where the slightest thing really irritates me. I just don't see how someone telling me they dont like something actually helps, i much preffer actual constructive critisicism where people explain why something does'nt work, rather than telling me straight that they don't like it.

mkersley In reply to lee25 [2005-06-11 00:42:16 +0000 UTC]

I'm usually really good for constructive crits m8, but I just can't put my finger on whats adgetating *spelling?* me about the composition on this piece.

maybe its because of the continuation of the same "object" with that gap between

I agree, I dont see the point in people going "its crap... colours suck" etc.... and really, I would LOVE to tell you what it is thats bugging me... just can't figure it out tho.

as usual your vector work is brilliant... I just feel slightly uneased by it. dont know why tho.

I hope that helped a little, and sorry if I caused offence with my comments.

i look forward to your next piece and any comments you can put my way.

cheers

how did people feel when picasso first started showing his works?

M-Thomson [2005-06-10 13:42:34 +0000 UTC]

Interesting, but to be honest the fragmented nature of this is something that puts me off. It's a matter of personal opinion, really, as the technique does make a statement of some sort about that sort of staggered style of presentation, but I guess to me it looks more like a comic strip without panels or something... it's jolly well confused me.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lee25 In reply to M-Thomson [2005-06-10 21:21:51 +0000 UTC]

right.. so you don't like it which is fine but theres really no need to write so much.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

M-Thomson In reply to lee25 [2005-06-10 21:32:20 +0000 UTC]

I didn't think I'd written that much, to be honest, but I don't dislike the piece at all - its presentation is just something I'm not used to. I apologise if my comment came out like a rant or something, but that's not my intention in the slightest.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lee25 In reply to M-Thomson [2005-06-11 01:15:05 +0000 UTC]

Ok, to be honest that first comment does'nt make any sense at all, the sentance is so fragmented. From the previous comments i've gotten from you I think that you are trying too hard to appear intelligible. I'm not saying that you are'nt, but perhaps it would be better if you were clearer when it comes to critique.

I'm sorry if it seems like im picking on you, but this does apply to allot of other comments I receive on many of my pieces. I don't find it a problem that someone doesn't like a certain element as I aknowledge that I cannot please everyone. However I belive it is unproductive to merely state that one does'nt like a particular element. Rather that it should be supported by a suggestion as to why that particular element does not work. Followed by a suggestion as to how this may be rectified.

I do however appologise for the previous reply, as it was not propperly considered.
