...hmmm, a different world of intensity... but there are some teachers in Melb who produce equivalent talent.

of course...there's never enough room for all the talent that's being produced...

If you want, I could try to take the grain out of this picture.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

lawrencew In reply to DexterousDamsel [2005-10-01 21:52:47 +0000 UTC]

Nice offer but grain was intentional. This was from 12 shots for a dance calendar I produced some years ago, they studio-replicated things seen in ballet classes and although formally composed were meant to have "live" quality.
This shot was done on a Mamiya 6x7, FP4 @ 600 asa.
Ta for the interest.

Interestingly enough, when I opened your gallery and saw the landscapes all I could think of was Constable, particularly the shot of the bridge.
Nice to see a limpid love of landscape.

Thank you so much!
What makes your words all the more special and flattering to me is that not only do I love Constable's work and was brought up with his 'The Haywain' hanging up in the family living room (not the original, of course! ) but I also live in Constable country and not too far from where 'The Haywain' was actually painted!

Those are totally dancer legs. I love the lighting. I've been taking up swing dancing latley down on the campus, and it's always a pleasure to pass all the lovely ladies performing their daily bakket schemes. Good work!

lawrencew In reply to GillianSeed [2005-08-26 08:38:35 +0000 UTC]

Well, they had to be..... both were students at the Australian Ballet School for this shot and have now progressed to senior roles in The Australian Ballet Co.
Shot was based on stuff seen in class and lighting (ambient, not flash) was replicated in studio to "look" like a more formal class-type shot.
Ta for the comment.
