Finished coloring it. I dislike the the overlay layer ( aka the background that actually is two layers one set multiply and one set overlay and sort of give Ariel a blue hue on her more. ) So it might change over time till I like it.

I'm not really sure what to say. I added a reflection light since she's under water and light reflects like crazy in certain areas of water from what I observed. Mostly if the water is shallow.

-------------------------------------------
I wanted to do some human practice.. well.. sort of human..

I've always adored Ariel and wanted to draw her for some reason. Everything else I tried to draw looked awful. So I'm stuck with her for now.

I think I'm getting better.. I think. Is her face weird? I think it's weird compared to the rest of her body it's too.. cartoony even though that's what I was aiming for. I tend to go down a realistic route when it comes to the anatomy, but faces, never lol.

Also I tried testing out something with my line art. I wanted it to be even more cartoony and american styled comics like. I freaking love that style. Subtle use of black in the line art or coloring. But I didn't want to over do it especially on a female subject.

This looks cartoony right? I get annoyed if looks anime-ish, I hate anime lol. Her nose could be different as it does look a bit anime ish.. Hellsing-ish almost, lol stupid Mel.

But yeah more fooling around yup. I don't know when I'll do what I have to do, I haven't felt confident enough to do them without feeling they are not good enough for those people. It has to be perfect or else I won't color them, I hate that about my perfectionism, I never get anything done.. > <;

I don't think her face looks weird. It depends if you are aiming for a western animation look, though. That is how the face looks like to me, at least, and it isn't like anime is the only style that has characters with big, expressive eyes. Still, supposed you DID want to go in an anime-ish direction. If that was really the case, you would have to shrink her nose or something. But since, that style isn't what you are going with you were lucky. XD

A question, how are you planning to color this? Are you planning on using lots of blue tones in the shading?

I guess so, but it is the eyes that bother me, I guess it's from that I just don't draw human faces much and it just looks different on a human head than my anthro stuff. xD
I try to avoid anime as much as I can since when I did go for anime it looked like they were a mutant for some reason. xD
I'm so used to drawing big noses for some reason. And big mouths, and I did have a bit of a KP lip style too. xD

I'm going for some blue hues, but the skin is causing a bit of trouble, but changing the opacity helps it be less dead looking. I'll probably use some yellows for the lighting though to warm it up a bit.
Since she is underwater it'd make sense to have some blue hues in there, and a tiny bit of light. The background isn't even a background, it's just a colored layer above all layers set to overlay. xD
Then if I can I'd do the reflection of the water diamond thingy.. I don't know what it's called when the water reflects the light from the bottom to near objects.. xD
I'm just trying something new lol.

I recommend working on the tones before moving on to color. That has been helping me out a lot lately. XD

Ah well it's too late now.
I just finished it but I think the tones are ok. It's just the layer set to overlay is interfering with the colors. xD
