Commission for *draiad of their character, Cain McNeil. It took me so long to do this one for no reason at all but...I think that if I'd gotten it done any sooner, it wouldn't look nearly as gorgeous, since I've honed my skills a lot more since then.I really love this...gaaah I'm so proud, haha. Despite the fact that I decided to experiment with tasteful usage of the dodge and burn tools. I recalled a tree leaf tutorial that utilized them but I couldn't remember where I found it or what the exact procedure was...so I shat dodge and burn all over the place. Thank you for inspiring me to use it, ~VampiricNocturne .
You've corrupted me.But I don't think I'll use them very often.

I have to say I really do like the leaf affects in this, sweetie - they look very good, and the lighting on them is super. I also like the way you've used blue lighting affects on Cain - it sits very well with his colours, especially in his hair. And the wind effects are pretty good as well - love the way everything is not only moving the same direction, but it all suggests a similar windspeed - some people make it look like the tie is in a gale, and the hair in a light breeze

I really tried with the color this time. I was really inspired by this commission!
Mmm, twenty minutes max. It consisted of me blocking in a really desaturated purple, then shitting all over the place with a default PS leaf brush, then attacking it with different shades/dodge and burn!

Oh I like the shading you got in this one, it gives it a really nice mood. Those leaves do like nice, though maybe they should be softened a little. Everything else has a very smooth texture so they could be a little distracting from him, but it's not really a big deal. I'd kind of like to see more purple in the shading of the leaves and the shadows on the ground though, but that could just be me favoring certain color schemes.
All in all great illustration! Sets a very nice mood and really makes you feel for this character <3

Yeeah, I was wondering if I should have blurred them a bit...but then I thought they would have looked like a massless wad of green, so I didn't...just something to mess with in the future!
...You know, I really should have put in more purple since the lighting is yellow/orange... Mm. I'll mess with it later!

Well they're just small things really, on a whole the picture looks great and I do think the texture of the leaves came out nicely! Maybe you could start experimenting with textures now and be all cool and full of texture goodness and..stuff..>.>!! YEAH!

The soft-focused background contrasts very nicely with the sharper foreground, T-G. There is also a calm, quiet atmosphere suggested by the subdued, cool, color-scheme. Overall, a gorgeous illustration!
