Lucky I really want to experience an isolation tank, might I ask what was it like?

You should try it! Fortunately my partner owns a float center, Float On, here in Portland, Oregon. So I am able to float pretty much as often as I like (about once a week). A very relaxing and unique experience. 20% gravity, no sensoryΒ input, sound-proof,Β water skinΒ temperature, natural dopamine release- there's lots to be enjoyed.Β I find it relaxing, insightful, medative, centering... it just feels good to let go more than you ever thought was possible. Β Β

Let me know what you think after you've floated!Β

I wish I lived close to a float center. I am 5 hours away from Portland . I will be happy to let you know what I think after I float for the first time, yet that might be a while from now, I just got my back tattooed and salt water is not good for the healing process sadly. But when I am all healed I will definitely float. ^_^

lauraborealisis In reply to TenkoSama9 [2014-01-13 03:47:45 +0000 UTC]

That's okay, I'm sure there must be a center closer to you. You can go to floatation locations floatationlocations.com and use their map to find the center closest to you.Β

I'm a licensed tattoo artist, actually... and I say stay out of the tanks for 3 weeks after getting your new tattoo, just to be safe. The healing process usually doesn't take more than 2 weeks, but the last thing you want to do is soak or stress out your healing skin. Β

Again, breath taking! Whoa! When you do the watercolor washes, do you block out or use Frisket? Or do you wash the entire piece?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

lauraborealisis In reply to teflonheadbuddha [2012-10-01 06:36:07 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! Haha, that would be far too professional, my style is more "intuitive/primitive traditional" I layer in the washes without blocking. A method that lacks precision, but is sure to keep you on your toes and expanding your work. Occasionally I will wash an entire piece but not any that have white spaces. I love my pure, pure white contrast.

I didn't know one could go to isolation tanks, I only red about that in a horror story 15 years ago now I'm curious about the experience.
