Basically, it's a lot of spray painted craft foam, pieces of an old laptop charger and broken headphones glued onto a long black glove. It's also a very painful process if you decide to be smart like I was and hot glue everything on while wearing the glove.

omg nice job haha
i was planning on using craft foam, but i was worried it would look too squishy and unrealistic. metallic spray paint really managed to make it look like that?? also, old laptop charger/broken headphones?? you mean the wires?

You can't just spray paint craft foam by itself or it'll look like shit, you need to apply a coat of white glue on the pieces before painting. Gesso or acrylic paint might work too, but I prefer glue because it dries transparent and you don't have to apply several layers of it (gesso needs 3-5 layers and it's a lot harder to get the surface look even).

And yes, those are for the wires (that's completely optional, I did it just to cover up the part of the glove that had to be left bare to be able to bend my arm).

white glue aka craft/wood glue/whatever it's called
and yes, apply and let it dry completely before spray painting.

how did you make your horns?...are they on a band (headband or like strung on or what im gonna be vriska soon and i gotta know)

Lapirin In reply to XoneXhellXofXaXmaid [2012-12-02 16:47:22 +0000 UTC]

The horns are made of tinfoil and air drying clay and they're glued onto a headband which I tried to hide in my wig.

U did a very good job on that they look so real! I love it im just finishing mine but idk how to attache them to a headband like did you hot glue them?...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Lapirin In reply to XoneXhellXofXaXmaid [2012-12-03 13:31:09 +0000 UTC]

yup, they're hot glued (i've also tried a weird mix of hot glue and superglue a couple times, but the superglue kind of melted the headband a bit...)

no problem!
by the way, if you don't want the headband to show at all, you can try drilling small holes in the bottom of the horns and attaching screws on the headband and wearing it under the wig. the screws go through your wig and you can just screw the horns on and the headband stays hidden. for small horns, you can glue them on hair clips, bobby pins or just pin them straight on the wig (the last option depends on the material the horns are made of)
