True Colors by Cyndi Lauper first inspired me and give me the idea for this picture. The theme for this contest is to do a piece of artwork that represents you emotionally at one point of your life. I choose to do a piece that represent me at the current point in my life. I have gone through may difficult points in my life like we all do growing up and I thought of making a piece to one of those emotional points in my life, but I realized that right now, I'm trying my hardest to move past those points. They're in my past and right now I am trying to find myself. Find my place in the world, find out the kind of person I want to be, find out what I want to do with my life, and find my true colors. Right now I'm just discovering my true self and letting all those bad times go. So that's what this piece represents. Discovering myself. The feeling of love and acceptance for myself.

I originally came up with this idea solely for the contest, but shortly after coming up with this idea I found out my Grandmother was diagnosed with lung cancer. She has been told she only has six months. I'm going to visit her this next week and I decided to give this to her. To make this piece for her. So this piece is dedicated to her.

My Grandmother passed away at 5:00 am on February 25th 2011. She lived a beautiful long life and passed with her loving husband by her side.

I love you Nana. Thank you for everything.
