Name: Chaitri Sharma
Nickname: Chai Latte (given by Michi)
Age: 147 (died in 1869)
Gender: Female
Nationality: Indian
Height: 1.68 m | 5'6"
Weight: 63.5 kg | 140 lb
Monster: Pishacha
Heritage: Reborn as Pishacha
Diet: Human energy and flesh – she prefers to feast on criminals and humans with a tendency to commit domestic violence
Strengths / Weaknesses:
+ shapeshifting / + invisibility / + possession
As a Pishacha Chaitri has the ability to change her form at will. Mostly she takes the form of humans, animals or shadows - which make it easier to follow her prey around. Occasionally she has to hide herself completely and becomes invisible for the victims eyes. Solemnly she uses the ability to kill them as it doesn't give her a certain satisfaction when ending the life of a human. In order to make her victim become wary of her, Chaitri starts her little play by manipulating their thoughts. For this she has to catch the person in a state of concentration or when they feel an emotion strongly, making it even easier for her to possess a human for a short amount of time. Possession is the easiest way for her to feed on a human's energy, weaken them in order for her to slowly drive them insane to the point they accept their fate and die by her hands.
- Mantras / - offerings given to them by their victims / - weak to daylight
Reciting Mantras can keep Chaitri away from humans and crowds because the words not only work as a spell but also gets so unpleasant to listen to that it can hurt her ears. When Chaitri had decided on a victim and tied herself to a certain human to feed on their energy she always takes a risk that they will turn tables with her. Easily done by practicing a ritual during a religious festival of the region, which is all about making offerings to a Pishacha, mostly food and rice. Chaitri's nature as a Pishacha forces her to accept those offerings and if they are given to her several days in a row she is forced to restore all the energy and physical as well as mental damages she has done to them. Her kind loves dark places which is why daylight weakens her in her monstrous form. To escape this she uses her shapeshift ability to hide her obsidian skin from the light.
Personality:
positive
honest | confident | self-critical | cooperative | serious
negative
blunt | prideful | coarse | secretive | moody
While it's easy for Chaitri to show people disgusted or unamused expressions and point out anything that bothers her, showing an honest smile and giving compliments was never her strength. Whenever she tries it sounds forced and not honest at all - even if she really means it. Usually Chaitri avoids interacting with strangers for too long unless she takes interest in them or the conversations they offer.
Since childhood Chaitri was never a big fan of telling people lies to make them feel better. Often she bluntly states facts and tends to go overboard with it which in the end makes her feel guilty. But her pride prevents her from apologizing verbally. A pat on the shoulder is what one can expect at most.
Although it rarely shows, Chaitri is immensely bothered by her usual behaviour and secretly wishes to be more carefree.
Despite chanting how much she dislikes any romance related topics and fantasy stories, Chaitri actually likes them if they don't turn out to be cliché and cheesy. Admitting that she is actually a rather childish soul doesn't even cross her mind as it may cause her trouble in a business oriented environment. Even when with friends it takes Chaitri some time to warm up and be the way she feels like at the very moment.
If Chaitri encounters a situation she isn't used to or is given a complicated task she seeks for help and advice rather than trying to do it on her own. Learning to solve the problems are easier for her if someone is at her side to brainstorm or explain the solution to her. Naturally Chaitri offers her help in return.
Background:
Chaitri was raised in a small house near the coast in Kochi. Since a young age Chaitri helped her father run a small restaurant, being a nuisance to her mother. Often she would approach the girl, trying to make her aware of the beauty she possessed, the many opportunities she had in finding a suitable husband. But Chaitri didn’t care.
When she was 16 a man entered the restaurant. It was nothing special to welcome a new guest, a daily routine practiced over and over again. For the first time in her life Chaitri felt nervous. Chaitri couldn’t explain why he caught her attention but it didn’t matter to the girl. He came by day after day and over time Chaitri noticed she had fallen in love with the man.
But the two had no future together. Chaitri’s mother approached her to acquaint her of some marvellous news: an arranged marriage. Chaitri protested against the decision made by her parents behind her back, but it was no use.
A few months later the girl was married off to a rich family. The eldest son, Mukesh Devarahja, had taken interest in her because of her beauty.
Despite the lack of romantic feelings for him, Chaitri thought they could get along but soon he changed. Mukesh’s jealousy got worse and worse despite Chaitri’s attempts to follow his orders. But even when he started beating her, Chaitri had no way to escape. Divorcing Mukesh would bring shame to her family. Usually she could’ve cared less but not on this matter.
The day Chaitri ran into her first crush gave Mukesh the final blow. By pouring acid over her face he had scarred his wife so much she was unable to show her face outside. But even after that the abuse continued.
Chaitri had tried to endure it but inside anger and hatred towards her husband grew each day. She couldn’t bear it anymore – the agonizing pain she suffered physically and mentally. One time Mukesh was about to hit her again, the young wife reached out to a vase to defend herself by thrashing the glass onto is head. Over and over she repeated it, not thinking, unleashing all the bottled up anger at him. By the time she stopped he was long dead. She just sat there, blankly staring at the lifeless body of her husband. Tired she closed her eyes, slowly drifting away to eternal sleep herself.
This had happened over 100 years ago.
Born from the strong hatred lingering in her body, Chaitri was reborn as a demon known as Pishacha. She had become experienced in hunting humans over time, providing the weakest of her kind with the needed amount. A reason why they wouldn’t let her go to Germany, attending the summit. But Chaitri convinced the voices of oppose by showing them their place with a fight. Her only interests were to secure their food source and escape the rituals keeping her kin at bay.
