This is my Take 2 on Commander Shepard. I finished Mass Effect 2 awhile ago, and I can't wait for the 3rd one to come out!!
Some of you might remember this deviation of mine, which featured one of my OC's only wearing half a suit of armour. Well, I liked the look of it so much, the combination of bare skin and armour, that I decided to do a Mass Effect/sci fi version since Mass Effect has such cool armour. The version I've painted here is a custom colouring (I play with white armour instead of the default darkish grey N7 armour)
with a full helmet (because I was too lazy to paint his face and this way, people can imagine their custom Sheps instead of the default).

It was quite difficult painting the armour, since I had to use multiple references and none of them were of the correct angles. I made up a lot of the details while still trying to stay faithful to the actual design. You'll notice I've slapped the N7 logo on the shoulder? Well, that's because I wanted it somewhere visible! And there are plenty more discrepancies and variations in the armour as well. The actual figure itself was the easiest part.

From a technical perspective, I've experimented further with adding some of the background colours to the subject to make the piece appear more congruous and unified, and I think I'm getting better at it!
Textures from cg.textures.com have also been used on the armour and background.

All in all, I'm pretty satisfied with how this turned out, because in the early stages it looked disastrous and I was tempted to scrap the whole thing. Glad I didn't now.
