Description My part of an art trade with , her character Mesarula "Terror" Umbra ^^ (you can find her part here [link] )

Well... I'm not so pleased with the lineart, mainly because I used a reference; shame on me T_T For the colors, it's ok I think, but the eye is indubitably the best here (but you must bring closer for seeing it). And yeah, the background is a bit white And don't talk about wings... X(

Mini-little-insignificant-update: bigger horns ^^

Is one horn supposed to be higher up than the other?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Lajule In reply to Dante8411 [2009-02-01 11:08:19 +0000 UTC]

Well, in fact the basis of the horns are hiden by the hairs, and the right horn is just more hiden than the left one ^^

Dante8411 In reply to Lajule [2009-02-01 16:31:38 +0000 UTC]

I guessed, but it still looks to me like the right one starts a little higher up. They look the same length and the end occurs at the same place, but I'm not getting that feeling of symmetry, and that usually happens regardless of something hiding part...

Well, sad to say that I agree with you Damn horns... XD Well, maybe I will had some changes for them when I will be able to (it's just a matter of time)

Dante8411 In reply to Lajule [2009-02-01 16:42:23 +0000 UTC]

Well, the problem is, what do you change? How do you make something look the same when giving it the same position and shape isn't enough?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Lajule In reply to Dante8411 [2009-02-01 16:53:20 +0000 UTC]

Yeah it's the hard point ; at least, if hair was symetric... I will work on the hair for revealing more of the horns basis ... Well I plan to ; I did some quick tests, and it looks good...
As at the begining the horns were half tall and half long than now, I think it's doable ^^

I can't really think of an elegant reply to that. You're a fan of criticism, huh?

Better than most places, I'm sure. Then again, I encountered a member of what's basically a Russian terrorist organization once.
Well, more "Irritant" and terrorist. They get their kicks by harrassing people online from behind proxies, and there are basically no laws about that there, so even if they're caught, nothing happens.

There really should be some standardized intelligence test. Everyone who fails is shipped to Australia or something.
Actually, we need a lot more tests outside of school, and a lot less inside.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Lajule In reply to Dante8411 [2009-02-01 21:48:20 +0000 UTC]

Well, even if there's a "natural" gradation between persons, caused by education or anything else, it's not the best way to institutionalize it by tests ; it would lead to eugenics, and by so to degeneration, as biological as societal.
It's easy to just put aside the persons we consider too stupid or too "defective" (and God knows I often want to), much harder to learn living with them and try to make the things better together...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dante8411 In reply to Lajule [2009-02-01 21:59:29 +0000 UTC]

It's really a difficult problem to deal with...really, we need a way to reintroduce natural selection. So far the best idea I've heard is to remove all warning labels. It's either that or release lions into an unarmed city periodically.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Lajule In reply to Dante8411 [2009-02-01 22:08:26 +0000 UTC]

Well, today natural selection is replaced by artificial selection, and sexual selection is also dominant ; we can't evolve anymore... In fact, at least in our "well-developped", ethical countries.
And yeah I often thought on some new predator species for humans (well, in a way humans are their own predators...) ; But where are the giant nagas? XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dante8411 In reply to Lajule [2009-02-01 22:19:03 +0000 UTC]

Maybe a little artifical selection, like people who try to plug in electronics in the pool, but that's not nearly as effective, and sexual selection isn't as accurate. Society should be designed to force people to evolve, not indulge them...
Giant nagas are brutally unfair. If they were around, only two things could happen. One, they devour the human species to nigh-extinction, and two, the more likely one, the planet is nuked everywhere they are, irradiating it so badly that humans are driven to nigh-extinction. Predators should be survivable if you're capable enough.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Lajule In reply to Dante8411 [2009-02-01 22:38:35 +0000 UTC]

Well, in fact, there's an easy and quite effective way for natural selection : allopatric speciation ; if the communications (as physical as ethnical) between human groups are broken, it will lead to different species after some centuries ; those human species, biologicaly isolated from each ones, would realize a natural selection between themselves.
It alredy happened with Homo neanderthalis ; a part of primitive humanity isolated in Europe which evolved by its own, then crushed with modern humans...

Dante8411 In reply to Lajule [2009-02-01 23:13:28 +0000 UTC]

But then we'll simply set up wars, and all nations rely on one another at this point. That's far too radical a change. I'll admit that the structure of society needs major alterations, but really, decreasing the influence of money and creating physical and intellectual requirements should be enough. With money out of the way as a problem, people would have a fair chance at improving themselves to a degree where they could survive...
By the way, if you'd like an inspirational or Yugioh card of one of your drawings, I'm always up for an art trade.

Yeah... Sadly money will follow us in the grave I'm affraid ...

An art trade? It would be fun ^^ But for the moment I'm quite busy with the page 2 of my comic and I need to work hard on it, so maybe we could re-talk about it after the release, no problem?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dante8411 In reply to Lajule [2009-02-03 22:23:56 +0000 UTC]

Actually, English just has an awkward structure comparable to German, so anybody who knows it as a first language will have difficulties with other languages.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Lajule In reply to Dante8411 [2009-02-03 22:31:17 +0000 UTC]

Yeah ; in fact, it quite funny to see how germanic and latin tongues can be differents in their working. On the other hand, more than 50% of the english vocabulary is simply derived from old french

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dante8411 In reply to Lajule [2009-02-03 22:39:46 +0000 UTC]

Tch, that's an exaggeration. English is the bank robber of languages. It goes to other countries, finds the words it likes best, then starts a war if it has to in order to steal them.
