Well, I have Paint Tool SAI 1.1.0, so our tools might be different. There's a "Sketch Tool" in 1.1.0
If you don't have that version, I usually use the airbrush :3

Try to lower the density when you're sketching, and do the lineart on another layer to make it look nice
