Description My brain literally cannot process this new centrally aligned upload page.

This is what happens when you couple insomnia with a rather....complicated character together with the sudden inspiration to draw traditionally. (WHSmith pencils ftw!!)

This took me a couple of hours last night when I literally couldn't.sleep. Despite the fact I'd been at the stables all day in the rain and the dirt. I wish it was spring, hence the title. (I also was headutted and managed to put a tooth through the top bit of my lip but that's another matter entirely).

I'm really a little proud of this, I have literally never been able to finish a picture of a grazing horse (yep she's not really grazing but her head's down) and I'm hoping that she looks slightly more arabian than she did when I first drew her, which is why using an arabian horse as a reference is extremely helpful... On a little side note, I didn't use my grey crayon at all (thanks for the tip, *mustang-thunder )

Azelma (c) mine
Aquiletans (c) =Thowra and =SilverBrumby
Ref:

The next horse I draw is absolutely not having wings.

Man your traditional works rock my socks off! And this is no exception!! (I think they've flown off to the other side of my room and now I shall have to attempt to find them amongst all my crap! lol) but seriously, this is just so beautifully simple and the shading is just wow yeah I love this! And I think you did a great job on the pose, it looks really natural
(I would also like to take this moment to apologise on my late comment, I have been super busy lately and have had some other crappy things going on offline and my inbox has been full of things just sitting there waiting for me to comment on them when things were a bit calmer so I'm sorry it's taken so bloody long for me to get round to doing this! forgive me? )

Grazing poses are murder and what on earth do you do if the horse in question is a unicorn? But this is brilliant and the wings are gorgeous! Azelma is a simply beautiful character!

They are far too hard; nobody should ever have to subject themselves to one. And I never manage to get the horn at the right angle on a normal pose, nevermind an usual one.

Thank you so very much!

Alas sometimes it is a needed pose, particularly for comics and the suchlike *sigh*

You are very welcome

Baaah, every time I see her I fall in love all over again I can't get over how awesome she is

You did such a wonderful job with her! I am soooo terrible with poses like that, they never seem too look right, even if you like over lap the picture and the reff, it still looks weird I can't wait to get my hands on her

And so sorry to hear about your lip!? What happened?

LadyRavensknot In reply to Ice-Cube-101 [2011-01-31 15:24:53 +0000 UTC]

Shhhh, you're going to inflate her already rather large ego!

Thank you so very much! I think it's something to do which the stretched neck that makes poses like this look weird, but i thought I would give it a go.

Oh, I was just headbutted by an extremely pushy pony on my chin and bit my lip. Hurt like hell but I (rather to my annoyance) didn't end up with a rather swollen lip or anything to show for it for that matter.

Consider it inflated

Yeah! That stinkin thing Well kudoz to you for your bravery!

Owwwwweehhh! Don't you HATE that?! Happened to me when I fell out of a bunk bed onto a wooden bench And a big huge GIGANTIC bruise to match how bad it hurt? Nope. Of course not. Silly Elly, why would we grant you that? Though, your pain sounds awfully like mine right now, go swollen mouths! Lol

Wow, that's really nice! Grazing horses are challenging for whatever reason, but I think you did great on this one And I love your shading

Thank you so much!! I always seem to think that the necks seem too long which they're not but it always looks that way when I try to draw it. Also, the head angle is weird.

Ooohhhhhh wow! She's absolutely gorgeous! And you did well with the traditional part too.

I don't like the center aligned submitting page D: I was so confused and couldn't seem to find anything at all when I wanted to submit. Meh I hate when things change.

Eurgh, it's awful isn't it? I never thought that it being centrally aligned would affect my brain so much.

my brain being so small as it is can't figure it out. It's too harsh on it... poor little brain.

Thank you! The wings really made my head hurt; I must have rubbed them out about 20 times before I was happy, but at least they cover her back which is one of my least favourite things to draw on a horse.
