Description Well, what brought this on? Probably the end of term, people leaving to go home or on holiday, a picture of Vixen Tor on Dartmoor that was on the DA frontpage today, the fact that I would like to go to the UK to visit friends, which might not be the wisest thing at the moment, and the idea that as of tomorrow I'll be stuck at home for the summer (Harry Potter much?), which is not the most enjoyable prospect there could be. I'd rather travel, and 'Roads Go Ever On and On' from the Hobbit keeps running in circles in my mind.

So, have a picture - also of Dartmoor, from last year's summer holiday - to express all that. As the title says, Fernweh... you could translate it by 'wanderlust' (which, incidentally, is also a German word), but the concept is more like the reverse feeling of homesickness (Heimweh), with the same connotations, and was in fact deliberately coined to make it so.

Image only minorly postprocessed. Enjoy. My apologies for whining.

Wonderfully captured I love those colors and the perspective as well! That photo reminds me, that "road go ever on and on, over rocks, and under tree..." Fav

'... by caves where never sun has shone, by streams that never find the sea' - yes. That is precisely what I was thinking of. Thank you.

Lovely perspective and light!

And I'll join you in the Fernweh. My brief holiday excursions just don't count as proper vacations.

For what it's worth, if you think that the beautiful Bergian might make your holidays a bit more enjoyable, you're totally welcome to drop by for a coupla days

Isn't it? Considering this was taken from the front window of the car while it was driving, this is a pretty good shot.

And the Bergian - and certain Bergian company - always help somewhat. I probably just have to get out of eternally going from HH to Nwa and back. And heh, didn't we say a visit was overdue anyway? And if you can find any time, come up North? Wattwandern? *tempts*

If ever I have a free weekend, go North is what I'll do. Even though your Watt hates me. My feet still hurt when I remember those vengeful Telerin mussels!

I do have a renovation-free week in August, actually, but as I'll still have to go to work I'm not sure I can manage a trip down there. (Yes, down. Topologically it's down, not up! )

Aw, now come on. We could also go elsewhere with fewer shells (and I don't think that they are Telerin, else this Feanorian would end up just as cut every time, and doesn't), but also less mud and fun.

As long as you manage without stressing yourself, that's fine. If not, there is always next year? And if you don't manage to come Up Under (), I'll just come to plague you in the hilly place and help renovating.

They totally are. They just don't have a grudge with Nerdanel.

Or both! Hey, I can dream

And what about Maedhros and Maglor (ok, the latter probably sang them into being nice, must be an old acquaintance ), but still... maybe Fea is just not a tidelands person?

Or both. No need to dream, might as well happen. ^^

Generally, I do not like shots that include pavement. There are exceptions, though, and this is one of them. It helps that the pavement is less than smooth, but the scenery would overcome everything else with it's beauty, anyway. Well done.

I'm with you there, in rare exceptions. I love how the road leads into the picture here. Without it, a huge element would be lost... Thanks for the fave.
