I really wish somebody would make a little mermaid version of star trek, data would be the perfect "little mermaid".

I know if you want? Obviously Data is the "merman", Q is the evil wizard, Picard is "triton", you can choose an occ to be "Erica", William can be sebastian, maybe Deanna can be flounder.

Thanks for the suggestion but I don't think Deanna would be flounder I think I'll leave that to Geordie. I'm still thinking about your suggestion if it can work or not.

I think it can. One time a long time ago somebody did a little amdroid with data and it was wonderful, but it was years ago.

For a moment I thought this was kind of random, but then I realized the parallels and it does make sense. Amusing idea!
I hope he's waterproof.
Cute. And all the little sea creatures are likewise adorable.

Ah, cool. I was trying to recall scenes of Data swimming but was coming up blank. I really have to go back and watch all the episodes of Star Trek: TNG, from the beginning, in serial order. I've only ever seen random episodes here and there. XD

I'm not the only one who saw similarities between Data and the Little Mermaid! Awesome drawing!

I plan on drawing Data in Disney style but the thing is I don't know which Disney prince I should use for his physical reference. I'm in between Prince Charming (Cinderella), Prince Phillip (Sleeping Beauty), or Prince Eric (The Little Mermaid)?

I'm thinking either Prince Charming or Prince Eric - when I did my drawing of Data, I used Prince Eric as my reference. You can see the drawing in my gallery if you like.

I love the idea of Meg as a reference for Deanna - they look an awful lot alike! And Frollo for Picard, I never would've thought of. What about Sir Grimsby from The Little Mermaid as well? He's kinda got the same personality; he might be a good reference.

Lol! And if you're thinking about drawing Beverly, try looking to Ariel as a role model.

Guinan's a tough one... maybe Tiana's mom from "The Princess and the Frog"? And for Q, I'd probably go with Gaston from "Beauty and the Beast," because he's got that same cocky expression and personality.

Funny you should mention that - I still have two Disney-style TOS drawings stashed away in my portfolio: Kirk and Sulu. Kirk turned out okay, but Sulu looks a little wonky.

I've only seen clips of "The Nightmare Before Christmas," but I have seen the original "Batman," "Batman Returns," and "Beetlejuice," and I love all three of them. The ending scene of "Beetlejuice" always cracks me up - you know, the one where Lydia and the ghosts are all dancing to "Jump In The Line"?
Man, why didn't I think of the characters from Mulan when I was drawing Sulu? Now that you mention it, it's so obvious! And I can see more of Prince Philip in Kirk than I can Prince Eric - Eric's more the Data type to me. Just out of curiosity, which Disney characters would you use as references for the other TOS characters? For Uhura, I can totally picture Tiana from The Princess and the Frog, and for Chekov, I can see Jim Hawkins from Treasure Planet. Who would you use for Spock, Bones, and Scotty?

That was my favorite scene from Ariel's Beginning! Talk about the perfect song for Sebastian - Jamaican flair and totally fun!
Good one for Spock; I can totally picture Prince Charming with a pair of Vulcan ears. Mr. Incredible for Scotty? Never thought of it, but that's actually a great idea! He's really muscular and built like Scotty was in the show, so that's a good match. For Bones... hmm, he's a tough one. I can see a little bit of Prince Charming in him, but how about a little Prince Adam (the prince in Beauty and the Beast)? I can actually see Bones as an older Prince Charming with Prince Adam's gorgeous blue eyes (De Kelley did have such beautiful blue eyes!).

You read my mind! I've always pictured Shirley as Snow White purely because of her sweet personality, her looks, and the fact that she loves animals. And Laverne would make a great Ariel, save for the fact that she can't sing, lol! Something tells me Laverne wouldn't mind being a mermaid for even one day.

Lol, don't worry about it. It happens! One other character is Edna Babish, the girls' landlady. I loved her - she didn't take any crap from Lenny and Squiggy.

I know; they were adorable! Then they had to screw everything up by moving the gang to California; that was when the show took a swan dive into the toilet.

I've heard that the whole gang moved to California but I'm not sure if that was in the 4th or 5th season. Plus I heard that in the 6th season Shirley doesn't come out in it because the director didn't want Cindy Williams to perform since she was pregnant.

It was in the 6th season, and Cindy Williams left right at the beginning of Season 8 because she was indeed pregnant, so Penny Marshall had to go on by herself. That was an incredibly stupid mistake, because by that time, Betty Garrett (Edna) and Michael McKean (Lenny) had also left the show, so the original cast was fragmented and all they had left for support was the lame new California characters who didn't have two brain cells to rub together. They should've just kept the show in Milwaukee for one more season and then given it the axe; that would've been a happier death than the one it died, so to speak.

DatroiStarheart In reply to LadyData [2012-10-08 20:47:34 +0000 UTC]
That's exactly what they were aiming for - while the show was still in Milwaukee, the ratings were beginning to dip a little, so they thought that by moving them to California to meet movie stars, they'd pick viewership back up. Wrong move - that did nothing but turn the girls into tarts, bring in all sorts of sex and drug references since they'd jumped ahead to the mid-60's, and then continuing on after Cindy left. Can anybody spell STUPID?
