This is the last time I lose to you, Makuu.-Kiburi.
Since the episode 'The Little Guy' came out, I noted how Kiburi's behavior hinted that he and Makuu have been at... odds for quite some time, maybe even before he became leader (or maybe not, who knows). Like, it looks like Kiburi has a sort of obsession of beating Makuu.
What if it was for a girl? One of the reasons men fight is for girls, and this is even truer in animals. The stronger males get to make. What if the reason Kiburi hates Makuu so much is because he lost the affections of a female he loved to him?
As for who the female is... I think i'll save the romantic story of these three for later, but from the look of it you can guess what's going on.
Speaking of crocodile tears XD.

Actually in the episode The Little Guy Makuu was injured, and the lion guard and Hodari had to help him and his float win over Kiburi and his float and reclaim their watering hole.
