12.31.10Fixed the crappy cut-off on the sides and top.
Aughhhhhhhh (@~@) I'm so tired! Not of this drawing, it was fun, but it took sooo long. Exhaustion!
Let's see, this is my half of an art trade I randomly initiated with . She got hers done so much faster than me, it's terrible. ;-; I feel like a slow-pokey turtle... WHYYYYYYY "OTL
I asked her to draw Beta for me, and in return I drew her character Naoya. I really like Naoya's design, but the eyes... in my world, anyone with black sclera is bad or insane (or both), so I couldn't stop myself from drawing her with a hint of madness in her face. So yes; the creepiness was semi-on-purpose.

I like how her hair came out. -3- It's good it did, I worked hard enough... I had to color this real hard because the lineart isn't very good. Oh well, what can you do? /shrug/
The tattoo on her arm, also, I went a bit nutty with. There's not supposed to be weird texture in there, but I added it... BECAUSE I FELT LIKE IT :,D

Time taken: 90 minutes sketch, 2+ hours ink and 9, yes, NINE, hours color. I kept track; four hours my ass.

Nine hours coloring time D-:> That's insane.
You could always shave some time off by skipping the sketch/pencil/inking stages by just drawing free hand.

I know, I too was shocked. Nine hours is crazy, but I guess it was worth it; whatever it takes to make it nice!
F-free hand? I... I dunno, I don't normally do that, but I could give it a go sometime. I have my patent-pending, sketch-cleaning, no line art necessary! technique, but it needs perfecting and doesn't always work. P:

I've actually tried that method too, but it's too time consume for me.

On average, I limit myself to 1-3 hours sketching digitally and coloring time is usually half that. But then again, I'm a very lazy colorist. Instead of smudging, blending and other techniques, I'll just blast away with the airbrush. It takes a bit of finesse though :/

You limit yourself? Why, do you have more important things to do? For me, the only important thing is my art. I need to live off of it, after all.
I'm lazy with my blending, too.. I abuse the Gaussian Blur so bad I think it's going to run away crying one day. :U

If I don't put limits on each piece nothing gets done. If art were my job, then I could put all of my time behind it, but that isn't so

Ah, there we go. Lovely hair, semi-evil expression and ice lighting effects! You're right about the eyes, they're almost cat-like -- but the grin really helps with that. Hands are also drawn nicely as well, although I hope the blue markings aren't supposed to be neon colours (I'm an expert at neon effects, btw). ^^
The only real issue is with the cropping of the starfield, you can see it outright along the left and right sides. It's not a dire problem, but it does detract from the polish a little. ^^

Those hands made me want to jump off a tall building. I redrew them about six times before the actually worked. I HATE HANDS DDD8<
Neon... I don't know, they're just there lol. The tattoo was supposed to be darkish-blue but I had to be all FANCY.
I know, I know about the cropping and it made me mad that it did thattttt >:U I didn't make the canvas big enough and now I have to do a lot of digging to fix it. Rageeeee...

And as long as you still ahve the back layer image separate from the character art (and the oval), all you really have to do is resize the starfield width-wise. That should take care of that easily. ^^

I consider coloring one of my weaknesses, mostly because it takes so bloody long, but I thought that maybe it didn't come out so terribly this time... not eyecancer, I guess.
