Description About two years ago I bought a pair of cheap black shoes with the idea of painting something on it. I started painting a dragon on them, but failed miserably and put the shoes away in my closet. I hardly new about Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables back then. Anyway, I came across my shoes again a few weeks ago and decided I would paint some Les Mis and Phantom-stuff on it. Last tuesday I started and yesterday I finished it.

I used acrylics and for those of you who can't read the lyrics I put on the shoes, here they are:

For Les Mis (Red):
Do you hear the people sing?
Say, do you hear the distant drums?
It is the future that they bring when tomorrow comes

And for Phantom (Blue):
Turn your face away from the garish light of day
Turn your thoughts away from cold, unfeeling light
And listen to the music of the night

Took me a while to choose the quotes. Both musicals have some great lyrics.

(btw, notice how the shoes form the french flag. Kinda.)

Aaaahhhh! <3 I just came across these, and I absolutely love them! Do you still wear them to this day? Do you get a lot of nice comments on the streets? They're just lovely! These are my two favorite musicals right now (other than Hamilton, of course!) Β

Thanks! Yeah, I still wear them every now and then! But I don't get a lot of comments, not here in The Netherlands at least, when I was in London some people seemed to like them. I'll be in London again in december, so of course I'm going to wear these when visiting Les Mis.

Wow, you live in the Netherlands? That's awesome! And have fun in London!!! Whose your favorite Jean Valjean and Javert? The 25th anniversary with Alfie Boe and Norm Lewis is probably my favorite. Colm Wilkenson and Phillip Quast are obviously legends, though.Β Β The 25th anniversary of POTO is my favorite. Ramin and Sierra are so good together.Β Β (I was just watching it yesterday, haha) Although the original is amazing too, so they're probably tied for first! Sadly Les Mis isn't on Broadway right now, so I couldn't go see it around Christmas time.Β Β I'd like to buy customized shoes from you, but I don't have the money right now. One day!!!! I love them so much I've kept this tab open for days just so I can look at them occasionally.Β Β (When will the other/cheaper brand be back in stock?)

Wow. I'm a horrible person. xD I was scanning through my old art and came across this comment of yours, which is almost a year old. Somehow I must have missed it. Β 

I love-love-love the 25th anniversary shows of Les Mis and Phantom, I couldn't have wished for a better cast. I also saw Ramin Karimloo and Hadley Fraser together in Les Mis, in London a few years back (Well, I have to say, I went especially for them of course ) and they where absolutely amazing! I really liked Anna O'Byrne as Christine in Love Never Dies, but unfortunately I wasn't able to go to Londen when she was in Phantom. Same goes for the Dutch Celinde Schoenmaker, maybe it's because I'm Dutch, but I think she's amazing, haha (I did see her as Fantine in Les Mis though)

Anyway, a little bit late, but thanks for the kind comment.

(btw, I no longer actively sell the cheaper brand shoes, because the brand no longer seems to sell this type of shoe and I cannot really quarantee the quality of other cheap brands. However, if you're still interested (after all these months, haha), you can always send me a note and we can check the possibilities. )

Automatisch, hΓ©? Maar in dit geval is het toch wel stom, want ik vond dit plaatje via de Netherlands-groep. Op The Phantom ben ik al 20jaar verliefd, en ik ben, back in the 90's, 2 keer naar het Circustheater geweest. Maar Les MisΓ©rables heb ik eigenlijk nog nooit gezien... (Tuurlijk ken ik wel de beroemdste liedjes ervan. )

Haha, gaaf! Toen Phantom in Nederland speelde lag ik nog in de wieg, dus ik heb 'm helaas niet in het Circustheater gezien. Maar heb 'm twee jaar geleden wel in Londen gezien (Les Mis ook, trouwens).

Jaaa... Ik voel me ook zeer bevoorrecht dat ik dat heb mogen meemaken!
Ongelofelijk hoe de populariteit van The Phantom daarna nog zou gaan groeien, en de populariteit van musical in het algemeen.
Wow, in Londen The Phantom bezoeken... Dat is iets wat ik ook altijd nog zou willen doen!! Heb wel de 25th Anniversary-voorstelling gezien op DVD.

Dankje! En het valt wel mee met het beschadigen van de verf. Ik heb mijn schoenen inmiddels al anderhalf jaar en draag ze minstens eens in de twee weken, en de verf zit er nog prima op. Alleen op de punten waar de schoen erg veel buigt (ter hoogte van de enkels) zitten er wat barstjes in het wit. (Om de een of andere reden barst witte verf sneller dan gekleurde verf )
Als je ooit nog besluit om toch schoenen te verven een tip: verf in dunne laagjes (dus niet in één keer een dikke laag verf). Vergt wat meer tijd, maar volgens mij blijft de verf dan wel beter "heel". 

Anyway, als je ooit schoenen gaat beschilderen: succes en ik zou het leuk vinden om ze te zien als je ze af hebt :3
