Hey guys! Back to the speedpaint-y style for me!

It was a rough week for me (and it still is sort of), a lot of things had happened but I won't go into details. I made this picture as a stress relief for myself, and also as a tribute to Erutan 's original composition "The Willow Maid" , from her album "Raindancer". I bought a digital copy of the album ; v ; ) It's very wonderful!!

I fell in love with the song the most: the vocals, the instrumentals, the way her voice just blends together perfectly -- it's very chilling! You guys should definitely listen, and get the album if you can. When I listened to it, I got very inspired to make this drawing. I had to loop it over a hundred times while making this drawing!

This was initially going to be just a 3 hour speedpaint thing but I found myself actually taking my time to paint in the finer details. When I made the tree, I was inspired by the video she made, with the collage patterns thing so I ended up painting it more rough than usual, then later on I picked up the patience pill and painted the tree fairy and the man in a neater way. We have no willow trees here in my country so I went on and googled it, haha!

The picture is based on one of the scenes in the video, where the man gives the fairy a yellow flower. It was a yellow rose in the video, but I looked up some flower meanings. Gladiolus flower stands for "love at first sight", which I reckon was how the man felt upon seeing the fairy.
