That chapter was the most saddest of all, I have never cried that much for a fictional character, and it truly broke my heart. The thing is, he didn't get to patch things up with Nana, they didn't even meet. That really got me, and I cried.

if it is a suicide, why would he protct his hands. If he thinks he is gonna die h wouldn't be needing them in the grave. he would protect them if he thinks thst he must use them again - if he eventualy survive the crush. - that was my first thought when they said suicide.
And he will never have that kid he wanted from nana...
phhh i hate Takumi btw... why is aways the longhaied cute dude the bad guy? deamn. Yet he has his reasons to be an asshole... sort of. when you think about it he really is a good characther. Verry well done.
Annyway my fav is shin for shure. he is awesome, smart, funny, and have rally interesting storry around him. And i love thet chane on his piercing.
I still wonder, why they stoped the anime... i hope the manga will continue, and that everything will be okay in the end.
O, and that nana won't die. that would suck....

The saddest part of how he died is that he promised Hachi to be there when the baby was born... and then boom.

It wasn't suicide, it really was an accident, the reason his hands were like that is he held them close to his body when the car crashed, to protect them. Knowing how Ren is I assume that his thoughts were, if he survived but his hands were messed up and he couldn't play anymore it would be horrid, so as he was crashing he held them close to protect his hands. Its so freaking sad- just finished reading the episode and I am bawling my eyes out. Ren is my favorite character in NANA and I just never thought he would die... maybe from drugs but not like that... its too horrid to bare. Okay enough of my blubbering. The pic is wonderful, and now its heartbreaking to look at.

Omg he DIES!? HOW?! I know you must think I am stupid but I haven't got that far- just watched the anime as far as it goes, and I stopped where it did... It can't be true! *Rushes off to go read cause she just can't believe it...*

i literally cried the whole time reading those chapters, which was around an hour... and it was pouring rain outside (tornado/flash flood warning) and it was 7am.
it was heartbreaking.. i can't see nana without him.

I cried a lot too.. that was too much, but i could see it coming..
Nana is now in such a state, can't wait the next chapters but the serie seems to have stopped !

yeah... actually it's really ironic, the day i read it i was cosplaying as hachi with my friend as nana and we met a ren there and he said something like 'before i die' and we were like ;/////A///////;;;;;;;;;;;; YOU DIE?????!!?!? and the poor girl was like O A O;;; OMG IM SO SORRY AFASKGHFAJSK lol and i had bought NANA 20 that day, and i immediantly read it after we got back to the room.
then i read up to date when i got home, i usually don't read NANA online but i thought i would have too ;n;;; ill still buy the books.

It seems that the mangaka is feeling rather unwell, but we don't know much.

I found a video on youtube of his death and the reactions of the other people the music is so haunting and nobu hear's someone strumming the guitar right at his moment of death and that just took my breath away so sad but so worth it...

I just finished reading the chapter and I'm sobbing. Ren! Why why why why!? He was my favorite character next to Shin...So sad. Do you if it's come out in a volume yet?

Why everybody hates Reira?? >_< yeah, she's not my favourite either, but... ^^ Nana Osaki is great indeed, I first didn't like her much, 'coz she felt so angry and distant all the time, but I love her when she has that soft smile on her face. <3

Neeee, I just realized something and had to tell it to someone but had no idea about who could it be, so I ended writing it here x.x Maybe because every comment here is about his death (of course it is... -.-).
So, in that scene in da future (that one when Satsuki appears the first time) Nobu said "Hey, where's Ren? Isn't he coming?" and Yasu answered that he'll come later. They couldn't mean that kid, could they? I wonder what it's supposed to mean ^^
It made me hoping again .___.

Before knowing about ren's death, i though it was pretty weird because they only showed a picture of him ... I know why now ^^

I really hated him before without any reason, but now I don't dislike Ren... I can't understand why he died and it looks like a suicide... Why? O.o? And now Ren is dead, we won't be able to know what really happened to him.
About little Ren, I think he's Takumi and Layla's son, too. But, at first look, I thought he was Layla and Shin's xD
