Beautiful piece and I agree with the statement you've made.

When I think back to when I got into anthro I will say that it was the traditional werewolf transformation that did pull me in. This one girl was exceptionally good at creating almost "realistic" werewolves. In a way she was the starting off point for my interest. I can see your point KZ that werewolves should be more fearsome than anything else. That is pretty much the reputation movies placed on them.

Yeah, nearly all furries will tell you werewolves are what got them started either in the fandom, or in the tf genre. Now don't get me wrong though; I still enjoy a good werewolf fantasy about packs and such every now and then-regardless of how cliche' it is- but the moment you start making them 'hippies', NON-threatening, or giving them swords and such as if they're just humans, then the genre is doing something wrong.
I should NEVER hear the words, "The werewolves are here to save us" and THEN they're just the crappy four legged version.
Red Riding Hood would be my exception to the four legged werewolf type, everything else...no, just...no.

Art is open to different interpretations, so you can't nessesarily say the friend, pacifist, or more human interpretations of werewolves are wrong. It's just a personal preference. I love both interpretations in their own way and I wouldn't mind drawing either style. But let's also remember that werewolves are kind of the most cliché creature on the TF and furry genre. I'm trying my best to find different creatures to use. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't draw a werewolf nice in a while. I only drew wolves at the beginning and one day my dad told me, "your drawing the same thing over and over again. You can't stay with the same thing forever." And you know what? He was right and now I'm trying my best to draw different creatures

Well you wouldn't be wrong. Like I said on FA:
"While I do believe you CAN vary the idea of the werewolf, (Just look at Underworld, Van Helsing, and An American Werewolf In London) I believe if it's just written horribly-and most werewolf fiction is except for the few standouts- then it's going to blow.
Now you have ideas like Skyrim, Werewolf By Night, The Astounding Wolf Man, and others that DO make it completely badass to be a werewolf (In control of themselves, mind you)
Vampire Diaries is a grey area for me, though they're four legged, they are still VERY threatening and imposing. (THEY KILLED VAMPIRE MAGGIE AND SENT HER TO THE WALKING DEAD global3.memecdn.com/overly-a..…)
The same with Red Riding Hood (That ending :3)
But when you have variations like True Blood (I'm sorry but the male actor is TOO good, he makes being a werewolf look like a downgrade lol) Twilight *gag* and The Immortal Instruments ("The werewolves are here to save us" REALLY!?)
Then that's when I begin to question whether people are beginning to get the wrong idea about the werewolf genre and are running it into the ground before it's even peaked.

Hmmm.... You have a point. But I think the only exception can be artists who draw them as a hobby, something they know isn't serious, or something fitting their own pretenses. I can appreciate both perceptions. Except for Twilight.........just..........no. No,no,no,no.

I just didn't want a whole lot of nudity and porn, that is why I put the PG-13 ratting. Because even with the mature taglines, I had the worry my contest would become contaminated with...smut....

nudity is okay, I accepted this
eduartboudewijn.deviantart.com…
form another contestent.
so I suppose clean nude you can call it?
and yes I will make it...only up to 5 pages..that should work
if the three people do not turn in any work, they will be disqualified, and no one else, I know it sound strange but I dont; want to knock out so many people......

To follow up the previous question: If three people don't turn anything in and you did -even if it's stick figures- you'd move on?
That's okay, I can see how staggering it'd be if like, 8 people got eliminated in the first round.

Yeah, unfortunately SOME effort is better then nothing at all. The people who DO do that though should be grateful, a lucky chance like that is hard to acquire.
