Hehe, thanks! And thanks for the fave. He is slightly based on Jim Morrison because of the cheekbones and lips. I would look cool with that make up, huh?

I think a lot of people would look cool with that make up... but yea only cool people should do it or else we'll have all the emo kids running around with it on... and that would suck.

And oooooh I see it now!! The Jim Morrison thing! No wonder he's so hot... Jim Morrison was fit as fuck!

Now do one based on Axl Rose! ... *bites lip*

kzeor In reply to ladyshalafae [2007-06-23 19:04:48 +0000 UTC]

Well, it was a sketch of a previous drawing really. I took the image of Jim Morrison that I did as reference but decided to leave out the glasses and change some stuff. I decided I liked the sketch so much I inked it with microns and colored it. I really didn't know where it was going other than I knew I wanted to mess with color.

well if you're not i don't know that i would worry about it... the effect you get is great. i've never been able to get them to blend together or get the shading effects you pull off, what type of pencils do you use? i know thats not the reason just curiosity... i've tried several times to add this to my favs but DAs not having it , i don't know why, it may just be my system, i've been having complications with it of late...but in my mind its been added...peace

kzeor In reply to trulyonetoo [2007-06-24 00:39:43 +0000 UTC]

I use Prismacolor colored pencils. They are more expensive than what you get in the school section at Wal Mart but the moment you use them you will know why. You should get some. Sometimes dA has some weird issues so that is probably the problem.

Oooo, micron pens, I love 'em! Very nice drawing and I especially liked the face-paint. Being Native American, I immediately thought of a Sioux warrior, but I'll have to admit that his expression obviously isn't about war!

kzeor In reply to Decarabia69 [2007-06-23 19:09:15 +0000 UTC]

Truthfully, our conversation of southwestern crafts art gave me this idea. You mentioned the touristy stuff being sold. How much Native American are you?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Decarabia69 In reply to kzeor [2007-06-24 13:51:57 +0000 UTC]

I'm close to 1/4 (my grandfather was Apache), but we're not on tribal rolls. It's very difficult to prove descendancy as most Native Americans carefully guard their benefits. Unfortunately, geneology research done by my father before he died ended in a dead-end right before my grandparents (he did manage to prove that a set of great-grandparents DID migrate from Spain), which is pretty typical of indigenous people - it just didn't behoove us to allow the government to keep track of our lineage.

Again, very nice painting/drawing!

My mother has a picture of a young man that named Moses Cauldwell that was my Great Grandfather. He was full blooded Cheerokee, from what I have been told for years but an older cousin has been doing research and she was told that he was Choctaw. She is still trying to find answers.

Anyway, his story is that he was a little boy and his mother gave him to a white man, Mr.______Cauldwell. I have been told his name but have forgotten. The thing is, I don't know why she gave this boy to him or maybe he was taken. Anyway, the man was a married man and he brought the boy back here and raised him as his own. If I knew the American Indian woman's name I might get somewhere.

The blood does show well in my family with the dark hair, eyes and skin.

Decarabia69 In reply to kzeor [2007-06-25 13:50:00 +0000 UTC]

That's a really interesting story! It's extremely difficult to trace lineage when you have Native American blood - as I said before, it just wasn't worthwhile for our relatives to have their whereabouts known by the U.S. government. I also have Spanish/Mexican blood in my family and the two seem to intermix well with the Native American - my Mom even had a "Tio Geronimo" who her entire family used to joke was THE Geronimo, but of course, there is no proof.

I think the Native American blood is evident in my physical traits too - I've got dark skin, and a nose that's sucking up my lip - my hair is pretty white, but it's down to my shoulders (I've always hated haircuts) which emphasizes the whole look.

My grandmother, my mother's mother, was very Native American looking. She married a man whose real family name before it being americanised was Von Faulkin or Von Faulkinburg. Anyway, it was changed to Faulkinbury and he was German. All of the children looked like their mother except my mother who was very blonde, fair skinned and blue eyed.

Decarabia69 In reply to kzeor [2007-06-26 14:40:07 +0000 UTC]

It's really interesting the way genetics works, isn't it? I had completely blonde hair for two years after being born (a woman once even accused my dark-haired, dark-skinned mother of kidnapping me), but that changed quickly. My eyes still have a greenish tinge to them in strong sunlight, but that might be the Spanish blood.

I can only imagine how much trouble women must have gone through in the past when they gave birth to a child that didn't look anything like their husband.
