Branching out is good - trying out new things is good - and speedpaints are even better..I suck at them but I swore to myself to make tons more of those - I can tell I need it...

What I would do to produce work like that in an hour... anywho, it's an interesting design. Quite pirate-like, I think, by using that spectacle apparatus, but also very.. hmm, not sure quite how to describe it. Almost like an earthly devil type woman, going by the collar decoration and horn-like headgear.

Really nice, very interesting character design too.. Maybe it's a speedpainting but you can definitely sense her personality!Maybe finish it off sometime?

I plan to work this more - specially make it match my normal more realistic style.
I also plan to rework the low res pieces in highres (Lust, Rave) and fix them up - I have learned so much since I painted them and they look horrible in 72 dpi..
but that all has to wait until I am settled in Greece.

Like it, but the Piercing looks as if it doesn't stuck through the nose. And maybe the eyething doesn't really fit into, in my opinion...

Its so futurestic, I like this concept. I like the background and her eye piece. Thats so cool looking! Its fun trying new things. Just this week I'm trying acrylic paints. Your work always looks amazing.

It's a mix most of the time..I still need to look at references for lighting for example but Gery here was fully out of my head (and it shows I think..)

Don' sell yourself too short...
You may already do this, but working in monochrome or greyscale can help with values. Take color out of the equation. As for light... I try to think in form. Curved surfaces, planes, volumes... Then I try to 'wrap' the 'light' around them to give the illusion of illumination/shadow...

I am still so extremely lacking...that hour also consists of 10 minutes sketching in ps. I wish I could just work with colors and shapes more and not being dependent on linework too much..also I am totally bad with light and values.
I sure hope doing at least one speed per day is going to help me develope those skills.

I like speedpainting too, it came out pretty good!
(Craig Mullins is one of my favoutite artists, his style resembles with this one).

to be honest I think it's pretty crappy..too 2D still..
I want to develope a better feeling for color values and probably dump linework all together..
Being too dependent on linework is in my case a bad thing.
I really told myself to make at least one per day from now on...no matter how crappy they are..gotta start somewhere

bah - I am so terribly bad at speedpaints...which shows me that I don't have a good eye for values. I guess it might be a good idea to work them in b/w for now. Further I told myself to do at least one per day.
I still wish I had some classes or workshops I could subscribe too but Switzerland has no oportunites like that - other then to subscribe to one of our really expensive full time art schools...
