Description This is a leather pauldron shaped like a phoenix. It is part of a World of Warcraft inspired "Kael'thas" costume commission that I co-created with my friend Ayabi [link]
Still working on getting good pictures of the full costume.
Pauldron is made entirely of leather. I made the pattern, traced it onto 15oz cowhide, then drew, carved, and tooled the design into each piece, then painted and sealed them and assembled them. There are two, one for each shoulder and they're HUGE! About 15" across from tip to tip and about 12" vertically.
Open for commissions!

Curious as to what it’s made of, how much and can you customize them?

Each shoulder took approximately 15 hours to make. I drew the pattern for each piece onto thick cardstock paper, traced it onto a roll of 12-15oz vegetable tanned cowhide, cut each piece out, rounded off every edge, drew all the designs onto the leather, then went over the markings with a swivel knife, then primered, painted and sealed the leather, then riveted each piece together. The phoenix head had to be wet molded before I could paint it, and it had to dry for several hours but I did those first so I could work on the rest of the pieces while they dried.
