Whooooaaaaa this is AWESOME!! I spotted this guy on Wookieepedia, and I'd been wondering if you'd drawn him!Β Β Too bad he didn't have a name, though. I like to think his name was Darth Avarice, seeing how Neimoidians were typically known for being greedy.Β

It can be reddish-pink; there are several examples of this in The Old Republic MMO (such as Gunaray Dod and Bregh), and in TCW, Sib Canay has reddish-grey skin.
For this Neimoidian, however, I would imagine the red comes from the Sith Tattoos, much like the rest of Krayt's gang.

If he's lucky enough to be in an AU of mine he may have been rescued by Kaleesh government. After all there are Neimoidians in there.
Normally though, probably would've been killed in the war or followed Darth Nihil's orders to go into hiding and infiltrate enemy governments when he assumes Krayt's position as Dark Lord of the Sith to continue the One Sith. But, as we all know THERE'S YET MORE SITH IN DEEP SPACE! It happened before (look at the Sith Empire and that's how the One Sith happened as well), will happen again.

Qymaen II recognized Neimoidians as a crucial part of the cause and welcomed them into his government along with the Muuns, and even gave droids the rights they deserved.

Arise, Darth Timorous! I also think Darth Solicitous or Darth Craven sounds nice for him.
I love the lightning effects, they're so awesome! And they also make a gorgeous contrast with the red/orange/muted sunlight effect background colours. And his pose looks action-packed, he's ready to fight whatever stands in his way.
I commend you for putting a Neimoidian pattern on the hilt of the lightsaber, it looks really unique that way and shows that he is proud to be a Neimoidian and doesn't care who knows it. They should do that in canon (if they already don't?), making little culture-specific details on the 'sabers of different species.
Sure Neimoidians are cowardly, but it's fear that leads to the dark side, no? And they're certainly power-hungry enough to desire, oh, I don't know, ruling the entire galaxy?
'The universe just isn't kind to Neimoidians.' <- This may even be an understatement.

Ooh, I like Darth Solicitous! That is what he shall be known as 8D
Thank you so much. You're too kind <3. For once, I'm actually satisfied with a background (more or less), so thank you for saying so. His pose was SO fun to draw - I just hope it's not one big anatomy fail!
Heeehee, you noticed the pattern XD. Well done you. And thank you - I wanted to give him a really fancy lightsabre. Originally, it was going to be covered in rare jewels and metal...but that wouldn't be very "Sith". So, the typical Sovereign Beetle pattern it was.
I wish a Neimoidian ruled the entire galaxy...
Yeah, it's an understatement, alright XD
Good hearing from you again. Not to pressure or pester you, but I sent a response answering your questions about a week ago. I know you've been SUPER busy and all, but I just wanted to make sure the deviantArt message system didn't eat it or anything.

Darth Solicitous he is, then. Eat your heart out, Sidious.
I don't think it's an anatomy fail, it looks fine to me. That cloak is finely swooshy, too. I like that you chose a more subdued yet cultural approach to the lightsaber, he looks a more focused warrior that way. I wish we see more of him in the future...
No, no, the system works just fine, don't worry. I did not have the time to reply properly, i.e. with my full attention that the notes deserve. And nearly a week, say you? D: It seemed a mere few days ago, my hectic schedule is killing my feeling of time. :'C

Kweh-chan In reply to Teq-Uila [2011-11-29 00:19:21 +0000 UTC]
Darth Solicitous > Darth Sidious...tenfold XD
Thank you for saying so. I had fun with the cloak and the lightsabre. If we DON'T see more of him, Lucasfilm is going to get an earful from me.
Not a problem! I honestly didn't mean to disrupt your schedule or anything, and I so appreciate you taking the time to read them and reply. Again, since I've had websites eat my messages in the past, I was slightly worried about DA's system; it's glitchy enough as it is.
I completely understand! It's strange how quickly a fortnight passes when studying. You mentioned you had one more test...if you've had it, I hope it went well, and if you are still to have it, then I'm sure you will do splendidly. With all you've been through, you deserve some time to yourself.

Teq-Uila In reply to Kweh-chan [2011-12-01 02:37:42 +0000 UTC]
Exactly!
I actually also like the technique you used for the lightsaber, uh, light. It's very painterly.
Gah, we must see more of this guy, I'll add my earful to Lucasfilm if we don't.
Oh, you're not disrupting my schedule, it's absolutely fine that you'd inquire. I've had experiences of having my messages 'eaten', too, so that always is a problem.
I had that last test today, am just glad to finally be over and done with it all. For now. *dun dun dundun* Thank you for your support and patience, it's meant a lot to me these days.
I shall reply to your notes tomorrow (it's night here as I speak), but, I have been working on your Nute and Rune piece. Here's a preview of the WIP Rune bit for you: [link]

Kweh-chan In reply to Teq-Uila [2011-12-01 15:22:43 +0000 UTC]
Thank you! I learned this trick a long time ago. You paint a transparent thick red line coming from around the hilt, then, on top of that, a more opaque orangy colour, then finally, a thin white or pink line coming directly from the hilt.
WOOHOOO!!! I'm so happy for you. I know that feeling of relief when all is done and over with. It was a pleasure to support you; as a fellow student, I know what you're going through, and what it does to you after a while. I hope now you can have a nice restful few weeks before Christmas, now.
Not a problem! Reply, if you feel like, whenever you want to; I am only happy to hear from you when you do, and will wait patiently until that time.
GASP!!! Oh my word! First off, you draw Rune beautifully! Secondly, have you been wandering around my mind lately? Because I have had similar images of him in that pose for quite some time. I cannot WAIT to see where this is going! *bounces with joy*

Uuuuu, thank you for that tip, excellent technique and you explained it nicely! It sounds like something I must really try out in the near future, if it shall contain lightsabers.
I still thank you, for understanding how such periods are difficult. Yes, I am relieved, because I now finally have a bit of spare time. :'D There'll be a test or two more before Christmas, but the main ordeal is over.
I am so glad you like Rune! That is a big '+' for me, because I was worried if he looks OK. And I think I must be wandering in your mind, haha, that is an excellent coincidence! I'd like to see your version of him in that pose, too!
I am not entirely sure you'll like where the final piece actually goes, but in any case you'll see it quite soon. I'm fixing details up but it's basically done, unless you will desire changes to it.

I'm very happy for you! You've been through a lot! I only wish my final two weeks of this term could be so calm @__@
"Ok?" He looks WONDERFUL. I would really love to draw something in this style (I've been contemplating a pose like this for some time (while listening to Arvo Part, which really does push your mind in spiritual directions), so I'd love to draw something in a similar spirit, if you don't mind).
I'm sure I'll absolutely love it! Thank you soooo much for doing this <3

Oooh, I shall be very interested to see one of your Sith pictures. Are they canon Sith or OCs?
He really is wonderful! It's funny because I hear that Rune is the favourite Neimoidian everywhere. I mean, it's not hard to see why; he's beautiful, graceful, effeminate, intelligent, etc. I do love him very much indeed...but (and I'm not insinuating anything, just expressing an opinion) I cannot ever see him paired with any female.
AHHHH! You know Arvo Part!!! I'm so happy!!! He's so unknown, but his music does things to me that no other music has ever done to me in my life. It's the most emotionally saturated music I have ever heard, and he is my favourite composer ever. If I were to make a film about Neimoidians, the entire soundtrack would be Arvo Part...and on that note, I do, actually, have rather a lot of contemplative and possibly spiritual ideas in my head. Thank you for the interest <3
We seem to have rather a lot of similar tastes; I noticed on your page you had a stamp of Captain Geering from 'Allo 'Allo. Are you an 'Allo 'Allo fan?
π: 0 β©: 1
Teq-Uila In reply to Kweh-chan [2011-12-05 00:10:20 +0000 UTC]
Why, thank you! ^^ They will most definitely be canon Sith, the ones from the movies. I do not know much yet about the extended universe ones and a Sith OC is a concept that is best for me not to attempt.
I love Rune because he is so sensible and quietly worried, plus he's kind of the least antagonistic in the movies. As to pairing him up, I think I best imagine him paired with a nice thick book of new laws and protocols. That would be true love.
I stumbled upon Arvo Part by accident, I have not listened yet to more than half a dozen of his works, but I do love them. I enjoy this music in general, it is very soothing.
Also, I believe a Neimoidian-themed film with such a soundtrack would possibly become the most unique SF film ever... Culture-layered business-oriented aliens with dignified classical music.
I should love to see what you have planned for these more serious Neimoidian themes! I kind of include your new Gunaako piece to this theme, as it has that kind of soft atmosphere.
Oh yes, I am a big 'Allo 'Allo fan! Amazing, you are too? I love everyone, but I think Gruber (and Geering in close second) are my favourites. Much love to 'Allo 'Allo!

Kweh-chan In reply to Teq-Uila [2011-12-05 00:56:18 +0000 UTC]
I shall look forward to seeing it, and your attempt at a lightsabre. I'm sure it will look SO much better than mine XD
Ahh, you really HAVE been in my mind! I see Rune being a real bookworm, even from youth. Let's face it, if he had palsy as a young child, he had to fill his time SOMEHOW. I want to draw him with a book, now...
I could go on and on about Arvo Part. His 28-minute long Te Deum is quite possibly the most amazing piece of music I have ever heard in my life (here is part 1 if you're interested; the other parts are off to the side, if you listen and wish to continue [link] ); I also really love all versions of Summa, Ludus, Fragile i Conci, Es Sang vor Langen Jahren, and Stabat Mater. I'm just filled with these overwhelming feelings when I hear it; like I said, it does things to my mind that no other music does. It's like inspiration in a can XD! (Stop talking Kweh!)
Would you believe I am even writing up scenes for it? It would detail Gunray's time beginning from when he becomes viceroy up until his death. It's the emotional, dignified, complex side you never see in the film or books...again, blame Arvo Part!
Thanks very much! I have another soft Gunraako in planning, and may get it done later in the week (these next two weeks before break are going to be killers X__X).
I'm a HUGE 'Allo 'Allo fan! I literally fall asleep to it each night on my computer. My favourite has to be Crabtree. Von Strohm, Gruber, and Geering actually remind me a little of Nute, Rune, and Lott Dod XD.
