Description Woo hoo! Kitsuke day!

My kimono collection has increased a lot this year, but I haven't gotten pictures of my treasures being worn. So today I got all dressed up!

Here's my taisho uchikake for you, with my Mizuhiki and Tsuruhiki hikizuri underneath. That's right, I'm wearing three kimono at once in this shot. I have never been so warm while wearing kimono as in this outfit.

I call this ensemble Shohan which means waterside. I call it so because the uchikake features a shore scene along the hem and the Mizuhiki hikizuri has a dramatic wave pattern on it.

Quick question, is a uchikake supposed to be tied by the obi, because I thought it wasn't? Still, a very lovely piece!

No, uchikake are not tied shut. However, a regular kimono with an obi is worn underneath. So the uchikake is basically worn over top of the obi.

Absolutely lovely - and very traditional to wear the multiple garments.

This looks like an ensemble a senior geisha would wear.
