I was wondering how exactly you would implement the extensions into a kimono tutorial? Also, do you have any resources for a more in-depth hikizuri tutorial? I need to make from for a school project and am somewhat new to this. Your posts are very much appreciated!!

Also is there a way for you to modify a kimono collar to resemble the collar of a hikizuri i.e. how deep should I place it on the kimono pattern?

What kind of Japanese fabric bolt would be suitable for making a maiko hikizuri? Just wondering.

Generally, a standard Japanese kimono bolt is not enough to make a maiko hikizuri. It takes about two bolts worth. If you could find two that were identical that would be a start. Or at least find two that have the same background colour, like I did here:
The outer layer of the kimono is one bolt, the lining around the skirt, and the extension around the waist are from another.

*raises hand* Question! If we wanted to use this for a Susohiki, would there be any additional measures other than the sleeve? (i.e. the maiko "furisode" sleeves; yours only shows the short sleeves) would this cover that as well? (including the new sleeve dimensions if there needs to be any)

Actually, this diagram only shows the measurements for maiko length sleeves; i.e 110cm without tucks in place, and 90cm after tucks are in place. Geiko wear sleeves that are about 50cm in length (standard short sleeve length for kimono these days). All the measurements to account for the shoulder and sleeve tucks are included in the above diagram.

I'm assuming this would work for Geiko hiki as well? With shorter sleeves of course.

Yes. With geiko hiki, the sleeves would be about 50cm in length. Also the body extension will need to be narrower. You can get away with adding 30cm for a maiko hiki because of the wide obi, but geiko fold their obi narrower, so you're best not to add more than 20cm around the waist. If you do, it will be difficult to hide the extension when the kimono is worn.
