I'm around four hours into this game and I am enamoured with it. Originally a de-stress doodle but then it escalated into a painting! I'm sorry, it's a bit less refined than usual, but I hope you enjoy it anyway. (so much love in this)I am definitely going to make more fanart for this game when I get around to it! everything is so beautiful <3

Well, the way the hair is "floating" upwards, the model with some magic light in it's hand... It made me think of an elf queen, keeping her heart inside a crystal to protect it from any harm. I'm already working on the idea on a canvas with watercolours. But my original sketch was nearly as good as I wished so right now I'm in trouble to continue. Also the watercolors are not having the payoff I was waiting for, so I'm working on it too. It will be work for some time, as I work in 1 or 2 layers every day and believe me, it will need a lot of layers to look alive. I could just scan it and do it better on photoshop but that wouldn't be really being a Deviant. Not in the state that it is right now. If you want, I could send you a photo of it as it is right now.

Not nearly as good as yours, at least by not. It's not closed, just... Delayed? I feel like I'm missing something in it and I keep returning to it every day trying to find out what. But it's not working. So I wil just "forget" this work in a corner by now, and return one day. What do you think? Do you ever feel like this?

I think a bit more movement might improve the dynamism of the painting. right now we have a view of two separate subjects - the glass diamond and the girl (notably the girl's hair.) The girl's hair takes a very vertical formation, and since this is parallel with the shape of the image itself, it creates a bit of stagnation, which is probably what you're feeling. You could maybe implement a bit more movement through some winding beams of magic, that come from the diamond, extend up the girl's arms and swirl through the girl's hair. Since this is a watercolour painting, it might be better to use gouache or even metallic acrylic - I think silver paint would look nice with the colour scheme you have going at the moment. What do you think? It's your choice, of course.
This happens quite frequently to me! Sometimes I leave sketches aside for years and then pick them up and breathe new life into them. Sometimes, I think it's quite a healthy thing to do so don't worry! c:
