It was uncommonly cold this night. The humans already had their fire lit up. They laughed, told each other stories of the great hunt they had today. The mood of the whole tribe was fantastic, their horses were in the best mood, too. Everything seemed perfect, even the cold air couldn’t damp the atmosphere.
But for one specific stallion, this all was worth nothing. Even less than nothing.
He snorted, unsettled, almost disgusted of the happiness surrounding him – a happiness he wouldn’t be able to share.
Ronan had always seen over the hard words that were spoken to him. He was invulnerable by words. At least that’s what he always thought.
But it wasn’t about the things that were said to you.
It was about the one who told them.
He had never expected this. Not in his worst nightmares.
He had always thought she was different.
This all was a bitter disappointment.

She had been all that was holding him with the tribe.
He had followed all the stupid rules. He had tried his very best to be worth it.
Just for her, and for her only.

She didn’t want him. She didn’t even want him to be near her. She didn’t want to see him or hear from him.
There was no tomorrow for him in this tribe.
He was able to see how hard it was for her to tell him all those cruel things.
But then, he realized how hopelessly in love he was. He had obviously seen messages and signs where there wasn’t anything at all.

Ronan tried his best not to let a single tear out. He was strong, wasn’t he?
There were no words for the feelings he had in this very moment.
He set one hoof before one another.
He looked back, and he immediately felt a stabbing pain all over his body.

It was time to go.
It was time to leave everything he had… or thought he had.
Everything was better than staying here.
Even going nowhere…
