Ah. If the handle is like a knife's, where the tang follows through flat and is kept in place with glue and nails, it is more like a messer.

Interesting, I have seen examples of crisscross wrapping on some historical swords. How is the grip for fitting into your hand?

I like it because the fingers bit between the wrappings so the grip is pretty strong.Β
