Okay so I finally got time to finish this! I am super glad with the outcome!Pyrrha is my favourite character of RWBY.
I remember crying so much the first time I saw her death. After re-watching the scene I got this into my head and I just had to draw it!
Her death has so much meaning. She is just a beautiful character and I love her <3

Why, though?!Β It doesn't make any sense!Β She was one of the main characters!Β Volume 3 basically spent most of it's time focusing on her development, only to kill her off at the end of the last episode!

She had several "death flags". Skilled, popular, reputation for being unbeatable. She is based on Achilles, who died. Her name literally means Pyrrhic Victory. When she kissed Jaune before fighting Cinder I knew she was going to die. Confessing your love to someone and kissing them before you go away to fight a big bad is like one of the biggest death flags there is. Very common trope in Japanese anime and manga.

It goes together with "The bigger they are, the harder they fall". Pyrrha was a champion, a beacon of hope and humanity. She was sweet and caring, a very good person and a noble soul. She was skilled, brave, a great example of a Huntress willing to fight to the death to protect the innocent. She represents some of the best things about humanity and being a protagonist. She had fame and skills (although that also brought some bad things to her, like being placed on a pedestal). All those attributes of her help make us feel more sad about her dying. Characters like her are often set up to have sad and shocking endings. She had so much to lose. When someone has never lost a battle before, they will lose eventually and it's not going to be pretty. Until Cinder, no one had even beaten Pyrrha. She lost and was brutally killed.

Yes same here, how she died that is what shocked me the most, so brutal indeed!
I have seen this question a lot on RWBY FB pages.
If I look at the mythology character she is based of then yes I think she can return. (That and that she kind of turned into dust unlike others is pretty weird lol)
However I am not sure if she will and should come back really, I wouldn't mind as she will always be my favorite character, but then her death would mean nothing.
I think for now I'd rather see her return in scenes like when she was seen on Jaune's scroll.Β

Her turning to dust was likely because Cinder literally incinerated her to cinders. It is possible her to return. We don't know what Remnant's afterlife is like. There is also the power of magic, including the four relics mentioned in volume 4. If RT are planning to bring her back, they will find a way.
I don't mind her coming back as long as she can continue to play a role in the story and grow as a character. If she is magically revived then it should only happen to her and no one else to make it a one time thing only.
Something mysterious happened in volume 4. Ruby kept hearing Pyrrha shouting Jaune's name in her head when she sleeps. She also heard Pyrrha's and Cinder's last words, but she was too far away to hear that. During her "nightmares" the screen is covered in silvery dots, the same color as her eyes. I think her nightmares are more than just nightmares. People have talked if Pyrrha's soul is inside Ruby, and it has something to do with her silver eyes.

True, we don't know. Some believe she might have gotten some maiden power and is now wondering around to found a host.
But that is all spectualtions really.

Yeah I found that odd as well. Yeah they spectulate with a combination that Pyrrha did had some maiden powers and because Ruby was the last person she saw her soul transfered to her.
I dunno though. So far I'd rather see how things turn out then spectulate too much on what can happen.
