Description Some very rough concept art for a fan-made species of dragon for "How to Train your Dragon". I don't have a name for it yet. Yeah, you can also see some remnants from one of my "Clanlands" comic pages through it!

So basically this dragon's design is inspired by that of the dragonfly (ironic eh? A dragon inspired by a dragonfly!). It has four wings, large eyes that stick out to the sides of its head, a small body and a long tail.

It's large eyes afford it great eyesight. The long tail is prehensile and can act to constrict prey before it is eaten (it can also be used to carry objects and kills around). The jaws of this dragon are relatively weak, which further reflects its reliance on the contrictor tail for killing prey. The four wings give it great speed and agility, but its small body is not very durable nor strong.

The fireballs it spits are not explosive like that of other dragons. Instead, they are small, dense pellets of flame that are more designed to pierce targets than to explode on them.

As for color, I'm thinking purple.

Interesting. I was wondering why it looked a little like a Terrible Terror.

I do like the design. The eyes make it look creepy, like an alien. But, because of the four wings, does this mean it can hover and fly backwards, sideways, diagonally, and other directions on a dime like the typical dragonfly (or like the Gronckle)?

I'd love to see the coloring and size comparison to the other dragons.

I imagine it will be quite agile, yes. I do plan on doing a color picture of it too.

Thanks for the fave!

Nice, I'd have never thought about doing this. I guess it takes a little more thought than you'd expect, since all of the dragon species in How to Train Your Dragon were fairly different.
