If you look at Doublade another way, it looks like a floating headless torso with two pink eyes on its chest.

Remove the swords and the combined sheaths look like a stylized shield. clever.

Welp, now the genwunners can't complain that the newer mons "Don't look like Pokemon anymore." Why, this fella fits right in with Magneton, Dugtrio, and Dodrio!
As for the Genfivers complaining that it's too lazy a design this day in age because it's "just a sword that becomes two swords," I say look at it more carefully. When they're sheathed, they're shaped like a shield, so there is actually more to this than a lot of people are giving credit for. I love it, and I still think the Honedge line is refreshingly original despite what other people say.

I hate this genwunners, genfivers and FifthGenFanBoys shit, only because they prefer the new Pokemon than the older. People can't understand that 17 years ago they don't have to make a Pokemon badass looking. Generation 1 is probably the worst Geneartion all, yes it is original and Charizard-Mewtwo but has a lot of bad features and they are now fixed. I don't like Doublade because it is really not that creative. I know it is based on something mythology stuff but this is two purple Honedge with a shield on their back. I don't know, maybe the final evo (if exist) will make the whole thing cleaner.

I suppose it is a little strange that they would go this route this late in the game, but I'm not too sure where else they could take this. Everyone was hoping for a whole suit of armor and stuff, but that's really a drastic leap from a sword. It was really either this or a bigger sword, I would think.

I thougth that Honedge is a standalone, it had a great abilityΒ and typing (not that great after the updated type chart).

Yes, while it's not that great after they took away Steel's resistance to Dark and Ghost, Honedge could have been a monster without the right counters in place. Even taking out 2 resistances, Steel still has a ton more types that it's strong against--Normal, Flying, Rock, Bug, Steel, Grass, Psychic, Ice, Dragon, Fairy, and it's still immune to poison. Without the proper adjustments, they probably would have had to give Honedge some really crappy stats to keep it from being OP, especially because of its ability No Guard and the fact that it will probably be on the offensive side.

But what about Magneton,Dugtrio,Dodrio,Klinklang and all the others... I'd say this is typical and kinda expected by now But I still like it more then Dugtrio and Magneton imo

I wanted to say: from Generation 6. Magneton is still better because when it evolves gets smoother. Dugtrio is lazily designed. Dodrio is cool. Klinklang looks weird but I never hated it.
