Awesome, you really improved, the only critic I can give you is that the head should be a little lighter :3, and I recently read that they're already extinct in nature u.u

My reference happened to be a specimen with a darker head than the average Spix's, and so I made the head fairly dark, then decided it didn't look right but it was too late to highlight it properly.

Your artwork is really good, how long have you been drawing birds? lol or drawing in general.

SaitouuRyuuji In reply to KristynJanelle [2012-08-01 08:14:01 +0000 UTC]
Lol that sounds familiar. After I graduated from high school I didn't draw for about 4 years. I then started on dragons. From there I gained interest because I am currently working on a story about dragons, so the more I drew dragons the better I got. Lol the only true thing I had an easy time drawing was birds, I had to get better at everything else, even dragons. Lol especially dragons. The muse comes and goes, I try not to draw if I don't have the urge to draw. Other times I might not have the urge but i start drawing and something good comes out of it. I try to draw something in pastel at least once a year.

lol I can understand that. This picture [link] it took me a few months to draw it then I got this far with the coloring...lol haven't touched it for a year. I think it's about time I start up on it again. lol maybe that's why the bird seems to be glaring at me, maybe it wants to be finished.

Hahaha I can see how you might get glaring out of its expression xD

ya I need to change that anyway, that was a mistake on my part....sometimes that happens. I was originally doing this picture to give to two friends who got married to each other and in every sense of the word they are love birds. lol. But the more i look at it the more I think i'll just scan them a copy and keep the original. hahahaha. Terrible huh.

I just become too emotionally attached to my pieces, ya once i finish the picture it won't look like it's glaring at me.
