Hah, I've never seen a cat sleep on a phone before! I hope it didn't ring while he was sleeping!

He loves to sleep on this phone, sometimes pushing him in his sleep and the phone falls

Oh, that reminds me. Of my ambery (ginger tabby) named Amber (for obvious reasons). We acquired him at 2-3 years of age, a stray, he wandered up to the front door, knocked loudly repeatedly until I let him in. He walked in as if he had lived there all his life, went over to the kitchen, nibbled on some cat food, went up to the fridge, nosed it, meowed... and never left our lives again until the day he died.
Though we tend to think he missed his original owners. Perhaps he got lost from them. Because thereafter he liked to go outside and sit at the curb and stare down the street as if waiting for someone. He refused to be an all-indoor cat. He insisted upon inny-outty.
And he had another ritual. Sometime after dinner when my husband and I were getting ready for sleep, Amber would knock (well, scratch) on the front door to come in. He'd saunter over to the food/water bowls, pig out (or cat out), then walk into our bedroom where I would be lying there on my side near the table lamp, reading. Amber would politely meow, not wait for a reply, and then jump onto the bed and bunt my head (he loved to head bunt). Soon as that was done he'd climb over top me, and step over to the phone answering machine, sit down right before it, and peer deeply down into it, waiting, waiting, waiting... for some phonecall or message that never arrived. After he waited for as long as he felt necessary he'd climb over top me again, bunt my head once more, jump down, and hurry to the back door to be let out into the back yard. EVERY night. Never did figure why. But it was very cute nonetheless.
