I love the simplicity surrounding the render... really just focuses directly on the "machine" ^.^

That's pretty cool. How long did it take you? What program did you use?

I like the image aesthetically, but don't think the title has been applied properly. I mean, a machine is a thing which effectively takes a substrate and transforms it into a product (be it a physical or ephemeral product). This machine just seems to exist and do nothing else, there is no obvious product, it is saving no labour, it doesn't even appear to be mass produced (which to me is very important in machine design) or capable of mass production.
In my eyes, this is a compelling image, but one which should ultimately serve as the starting point for a larger project. After all, with your combined talents, there should be no problem expanding and elaborating on the theme. So while this comment may raise some eyebrows amongst my fellow deviants, I hope you don't take it the wrong way and feel offended; it's not my aim and I'm looking forward to some more cool krick designs and cool colabs

I know you've explained your method of working to me before and I understand why you work in that way.
In my interpretation of machine, the machine itself is a thing which saves work. So, the jobs of five men can be combined and reproduced more efficiently in a machine, or dangerous jobs can be delegated to machines to reduce the risk of human loss of life. Machines can be big or small, complex or simple. They also remove a lot of makes things human; the artefacts left in the materials from hand crafting, irregularities, the extra details which can make something special.
So, there alone you have the machine as saviour, alien, inhuman, efficient, but above all purposeful. Then perhaps, considering all of these things you could begin to design a conceptually correct machine, incorporating all of these feelings into a coherent design. It doesn't need to exist now or be based on anything existing, either. It just needs to follow it's own internal logic.
Here's an example: "The Dehumanizer"- this machine converts captured people into mannequins for displaying clothes.
1) these people are held unwillingly, there needs to be some kind of cage for them to sit in or to be held in.
2) they obviously don't want to become mannequins so they need to be forced into the machine; perhaps gravity fed - maybe the cage is shiny plastic so they can't grip onto anything to stop them from going into the machine.
3) humans are flesh and bone, mannequins are plastic coated, matbe there are tanks of formaldehyde and liquid plastic to preserve and then coat the subjects.
4) mannequines then need to be painted.... etc.
This is a disturbing concept and quite nasty and imaginative machine, but there is a logic to it. A machine logic.
As for making it into a larger project, you could make a set of images or you could produce a chain of machines, one after the other interaxcting with each other line in an assembly line...
this could end up being a truly compelling project...
