lawls I'm not sure how //sobs
You actually learn more just by scribbling with them than someone can tell you OTL Although I did learn some of tricks from people on dA. Like using a gray marker underneath your main color to give it a shadow when you don't actually have a decent color or using a lighter color over the area to try to even it out. Although I really hate my colorless blenders... I feel like they actually change the color of the marker (although that's just my Prisma one. Idk how the copic one works)
I'm just curious, do you have alcohol markers? They're so much fun to draw with *w*

Yess i have copic markers ;7;--they're alcohol based right yeah-- I think I have 86! xD I only use them when I go to conventions and do on sight commissions though so my experience time is..how long I've been at a convention ahah;;; I always think I should practice or use them at home but I only rarely use it for drawing a gift so besides that they sit there all day since I just go ahead and do digital Ahahah;;; and I don't think my copic coloring is that good _(:'3/ L)_ BUT WOW the grey idea..I can try that next time!
I feel I learn how to use them the best when I watch someone use them!! Then I can see exactly what they're doing and steal their ways... * 7*/creeps over you now

That sounds like a lot of fun. And yeah they're alcohol based. Both Prismas and Copics are (that's why I draw with both xD). I've never done commissions at a convention before, but it sounds like fun (and a lot of work ahaha). I understand the whole 'putting them aside and never picking them up' thing though. It is a lot easier to color digitally for most things and it's easier to travel with a computer and tablet than a container of markers >w< Copics take a little bit to get used to ...I've been using them for two years now and I still find myself cussing them out when I draw OTL... I wish I could just watch someone else color with them too //sighs But I don't know anyone that actually draws with them too. Although I think there are a few videos on youtube and a lot of walkthrough/tutorial/thingies on dA. Those are always fun to watch *w*

For some it's stressing cause dealing with selling your stuff and drawing at the same time ahaha but it's good extra money ; 7; I don't charge alot for copic color since my coloring is all amateur LOL;; And I get like..a TIIINY bit better at each con only xD I have a friend that's really good with copics but I only see her use them at cons too and I can't watch her since I have to do my own commissions ughu I watched some vids on youtube but I'm picky about what style I want to use haha and I haven't decided yet for copics ;7;

Omygerd the original artists style is so pretty! She did the character designs for the game Starry Sky and they're all just so pretty bishounen [link] although there is a bit of an issue with the artist and plagarism apparently -.-

ughhh! How do you get it to stay consistent like that?! My prismacolors are ugh...like i'm using opacity flow on PS lol! How do you do it?!!

Kouri-n In reply to Jordan-chan [2012-08-26 15:28:19 +0000 UTC]
Consistency with prismas? Argh I know it can be really difficult at times >< It helps if you work in sections rather than trying to tackle large areas all at once. Some people say to use a circle motion or use a colorless blender, but it's just personal preference (I don't use either of those OTL). And because prismas will streak, I use copics for skin tones because the blend better
btw what is opacity flow? I've never heard of it (probably because I have the elements version)

Oh. What exactly does it do? Is it similar to the clone stamp tool?

Hum, it's like when you make a light mark and you keep going over it and it gets darker and darker with each stroke. Hard to explain lol.

So a little similar to going over it again with a marker but with the computer. So it gives it the appearance of multiple "layers"? Yeah I get what you mean but I'm not sure how to explain it either ><

Looks awesome, this is exactly what I was looking for for coloring. Can you show me where you bought these?

Where I bought the markers? I got a 12 set of Prismacolors for my birthday last year and have been adding on individually by buying either from Hobby Lobby or Blick Art (online). My 5 copics were also bought individually at Hobby Lobby.
I hope that's what you mean ><
