Mario's relationship with Yoshi (and yoshis in general) gives me strength, I swear he'd identify so much with yoshisEspecially looking between Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island (remember how that's a prequel? crazy shit. crazy) anyways I drew this a little while ago and intended to make a background before I posted it... but I came up short, so I'm calling it now.Β I used sprites from the two games to reference colours here, which game out weird but was a fun experiment
I like to think that when Mario and Peach decide to go on a holiday, Mario just about always wants to return to Yoshi's Island because he has so much more fun there than on any resort island like Delfino or Pi'illo.

I always dislike when people think Mario is cruel to Yoshis. They forget how close they are. Mario was pretty raised by them. Explains why he has great courage. Then he ends up hanging with the son of the one one who took him in as one of their own.

I have made Yoshi be cruel to Mario in the past but that was Newgrounds doing. Though I guess I still have Mario picking on Yoshi at times, but not as cruel.

Yeah, I'm all for introducing mature themes into more G-rated media but randomly adding violence and drugs isn't really... creative, or funny, or even mature

The Yoshi that shows up in current Mario games, was actually born sometime after Mario and Luigi (end of Yoshi's Island DS) So I headcanon that both bros were close to THIS Yoshi, as apposed to the one that helped Mario when he was a baby (*which* I headcanon is current Yoshi's father)

Oh I totally agree with you there, makes sense with the timeline and all (and I dunno how long yoshis live, but for yoshi to have basically not aged is a bit suss 
The YI DS yoshi baby could easily also be the yoshi rescued from the first level of Super Mario World, as he says he was trapped in an egg by Bowser (not a newborn)... that said I do like the cartoons' interpretation of Mario, Luigi and Peach actually hatching that Yoshi and raising him
