Description or rather SB Lim-2 (Polish production MiG-15 UTI). She is in Czech Air Force painting. Operator: Czech Flying Legends

I've made a mistake: It is a Czech production MiG-15. It means she is a CS-102 not SB-Lim-2. The serial number is 242266. She was produced in Czechoslovakia in 1954, sold to Poland, where she was used till the begining of 90s. Then she was sold to USA as SB-Lim2. Few years ago she returned to Czech Republic and was repainted as 2514.

A two-seater? Is this a trainer aircraft?

Yes it is. It was as a final stage trainer.

On par with the F-86 Sabre, and both protégés and kindred spirits of German technology.

That is almost right. Both planes were created based on German experience. The problem with MiG-15 is that at the begining it could not fly without British Rols-Royce engine. So there is a lot of German and British spirit in it.

True, since the British gave them the Rolls-Royce Nene engine for their participation in the 'Great Patriotic War.'  The only problem with the engine, since it was based off of Frank Whittle's design, you couldn't increase the compression of the incoming air without enlarging the compressor.  General Electric that was first producing the jet engines for the American military took the German route and added compressor disks of similar size.  Even though this lengthen the engine's shape, it was easier to make the aircraft longer than fatter.

It looks like a toy plane rather than like a combat plane X)

Nice take anyway.

Yes! It is small, but nice looking in the air. I've seen it flying low (just few meters above the airfield) and fast. It was incredible. One could feel she is a fighter.

Nice!  Looks so small compared to some todays fighters.

It is really small. It can be compared with II w.w. fighters, not the modern one.

Yes of course.  Its interesting to see though, the evolutionary direction jet fighter design has taken over the years

Yes, especially the need for speed at the expense of maneuverability (eg. MIG-21,23, Su-22).
