Well, this is one of the tailed demons of lore, if my quick search for them is correct. This is the five tailed wolf of the legend I happened upon. If anyone knows the actual legend and the demons, I'd absolutely love to hear from you!!!Related content

Actually, if you want to know the true legend, I recommend you stay away from that narutofan thread. I have read through the whole thing and found lots of incorrect information. If you want a good place to refer from, use Youkaimura: [link] , none of the information I ever looked up there contradicted my knowledge, and I have been researching about japanese mythology for a very good time.

I do know that Gobi is suppose to have water, fire, lightning, wind, and earth for tails instead of normal ones. He's also suppose to have it from left to right: water (blue), fire (red), heaven aka lightning (white), wind (yellow), and earth (green.) Just a bit of taboo for you for future reference.

Actually he has a tail assigned to each element, but the elements vary according to the houkou (there is more than one) and his tails are normal, they simply are assigned to an element.

The fact is: you indicated that thread as a reference and that specific point as fact. When it is not fact, actually, many informations from there are amazingly WRONG. Mainly because as the very own creator of the thread that contains that info said, she may have ended up getting info from a fanfiction instead of the real thing, this means you were giving the artist someone else's view of the legend as the legend itself, and that limits how far the person can go with their imagination, because we build our view over a series of facts, e.g., If you take as fact "houkou is an elemental five tailed dog" you get a lot farther in your imagination than with "houkou is a white elemental dog with five tails made of elements who has such, such and such elements that present themselves as such, such and such colors with such, such and such texture.", you are getting another person's view, and views are specific, while legends themselves usually aren't... Does the legends ever cite what was Odin's eyecolor? Or what color were his wolves? No, they say he was the god of gods and had two wolves devour the offerings made to him. This means I could draw a black Odin with blue eyes, blond hair and two purple wolves with green mohawks wearing all-star shoes, but that could never be given as fact. That is why painters rarely depict the same legend the same way.
... Well... I could write a whole essay about this, but I'd better not, I feel like I said a lot and you will end up not understanding it... Anyway, putting it short: you were giving yours/ the person who wrote the fanfic the creator of the thread mistook for info view when the artist asked for fact, so I felt like I should put the fact to leave the person more room to develop his/hers own view.

All you really need to know is this one site. It tells about
each tailed demon, though it doesn't mention that the
Gobi has five different colored tails. I mentioned something
about the tails being different colors or so I believe. If I didn't
well here's a brief description. from your left to your right:
first tail: Blue, in the shape of water. second tail: red, in the shape
of flames. third/middle tail: white, in the shape of a lightning bolt.
fourth tail: yellow, in the shape of wind. Fifth/last tail: green, in the shape
of a rock.

I really like this picture, a lot, but something seems a bit off--I think it's the background, it doesn't seem to fit the mood the wolf is giving off. But I love how (s)he's glowing, it hives the picture a more mythical feel.
