Latin ConventionCategory: Black Ink
Place: 1st
Done in March. Out of all my pictures that I did for Latin Con, this took the longest. A week of work! D: Even though I did half of it in my classes. 8D;; Also my favorite picture out of all the ones I did. ^^ The last time I did pen and ink was 4 years ago...so I was kinda nervous when I decided to do this. Before this, I only knew how to do stippling and scribble. I learned how to crosshatch, parallel lines, and a new technique I never heard of before: Ink wash, which I used for the water in the pic (NOT watercolor). Big learning experience for me. XD; I was so sick of it by the end (the bushes would not end D8 ). My favorite things in this are her hair and the trees.
This is a beech tree nymph. That's why she's thin, tall, and out of proportion (I did this on purpose, so I don't want anyone complaining about this), and has bark pattern on her legs. I did research on beech trees (bark and leaves) for this. >_>; I do a lot of research for my Latin Con pics.
After Latin Con, this pic was placed in a gallery for all high schools in my area.
I already have another full ink picture in mind...I'm just too lazy to do anything about it. 8D

This is a wonderful piece of art. I love the balance of textures and the tone of it. I admire the research you undertake for your work. I too do a fair amount of research for many of my things. Art is a great vehicle of education for me. It's a wonderment what I've learned simply through researching the nature or history of what I want to render. I'm impressed that you've learned how to do ink washes also. Not an easy or common thing for most artists. I love your gallery. Your drawings and paintings are of a wonderful style and have a vein of consistency throughout which lend them alot of strength. Keep up the good work and keep in touch. Yours,... DD Koloc

The only reason why I finished it was cuz it was for competition. Otherwise, it would've sat in my room somewhere collecting dust, half finished. XD;; I wanted to hurt myself for choosing this. XD;;

Well, Animation (what I'm studying for) is a BIG money maker, though now it's mostly 3D (I'm into 2D more. . .), Also, Graphic Design (logos, news ads, and that sort of thing) is HUGE in art. YOu could make QUITE a hefty sum in both. ^^
