Description EDIT: Aaaaand she has been accepted! Whoo! BTW, if you're in the game as well and want to note RP sometime, feel free to drop me a line. I'll probably be slow (and cancel gaming once college starts up again in August, but in the meantime...

I needed to draw. I needed to draw something different-ish.

I needed...to draw a pokemon gijinka.

What's more, I've decided to use this need to draw as an opportunity to join and see if I can do some more interacting on the RP level.

In the meantime:

NAME: Redface

POKEMON #: 621 Druddigon

ORIGINAL POKEMON #: 187 Hoppip

GENDER: Female

ORIGINAL GENDER: Female

NATURE: Hardy

ABILITY: Mold Breaker - Redface isn't quite certain why she acquired this ability rather than the one that the original Redface had. It could well be coincidence...or it could well be her own subconscious need to "break the mold" of her former self into a brand new one, regardless of what others expect of her. Whichever the case, the ability works much like one would expect - it nullifies an opponent's ability, typically those that could potentially weaken or negate her moves.

MOVESET:
- Superpower - Redface puts every bit of her her body into the attack, using grappling maneuvers to deal damage. Her stamina and inexperience means she can't keep this up for long, though. (Attack and Defense lowers with each hit)
- Dragon Claw - Redface's long, clawlike hands are used to strike with the strength of a mighty dragon.
- Aerial Ace - A hint of Redface's real half-Flying nature packed into one move. She uses her newfound swiftness and agility to strike down from above with pinpoint accuracy.
- Rock Climb - Redface's strength and speed aren't just for battle, but also for exploring the world around her. Lacking the means to fly, she now uses this move to climb as high as the dream will let her so she can explore the world. In battle, though, this works as a different sort of grappling move that can overpower and confuse an opponent.

AGE: 25

HEIGHT: 5'5"(1'04" as a Hoppip)

PERSONALITY: Redface is big, tough and scary. At least that's what she aims for; in practice, however, she tends to fall a bit short. With her, a battle of contradictions comes from her real world experiences and the ones she has dreamed up for her new persona. So for every attempt she makes to seem imposing as a person, one slip up could well lead her to showing a far more docile side to her. The only certainty in Redface is that she's hungry to see and do new things -- meet new people, new lands, maybe even see if there's something she can put her heart and soul into, like perhaps battling. Which is not to say she's violent or will challenge everyone she meets -- she'll accept challenges given TO her, but that's not the same thing. More than anything else, though, what Redface wants is to be respected. The original Redface had presence and power and was easy to respect, so this shouldn't be that hard, right? Of course...she IS big, tough and scary, now...this might take some time to figure out.

HISTORY: Once there was a hoppip who was raised by one of the finest breeders in Hoenn. The hoppip had a commendable pedigree - an Audino father who assisted Pokemon Center nurses on the field and a Jumpluff mother, who ended up being part of a gym leader's assistant's team roster. Clearly, the little hoppip was destined for greatness from the start...it was the *kind* of greatness that was the problem, as she could never decide what she wanted to strive for. But soon the time came for the trainer who had her bred in the first place to collect her and help make the decision for her. She was to be trained to become a Contest pokemon, specifically Cute contests.

At first, the hoppip was thrilled with her new role in life -- the appeals, the fun and colorful attacks, the coos and 'd'aws' of the audience, it was all so exciting. But soon the years passed...and the things that made her smile now simply made her groan in annoyance. Nothing was fun anymore, nothing was *different*. It didn't help that her trainer refused to let her battle anything larger than her or even evolve (he made her wear an Everstone bracelet every time she did a contest battle). Add to that the anger that rose in her as she witnessed other Contest pokemon who were allowed to evolve and have a life outside the stage or moving to other contest categories and it became far too much for the little flying grass-type to handle!

But once more, fate had decided to play its hand with the hoppip. On one faithful day, her trainer was given the chance to go on a trip to Unova and decided to take the hoppip with her. This gave the old little hoppip just the joy she's been yearning for; new sights! New sounds! New Pokemon! And speaking of new Pokemon, it seemed that was the reason the trainer was there -- she was about to collect a new pokemon that she asked to be bred for her, just like the little hoppip was. Suddenly, the hoppip's happiness became fear: was she being replaced? Was she going to be cast away in place of a new Contest beauty? Surely it can't be that!

To her surprise, it wasn't. Rather than something small and adorable and destined for Cute contests, what she instead saw was...power. Terror. Amazing strength. All that and more wrapped up in a package that they called a druddigon. She wasn't quite sure why something that can tear her to ribbons drew her attention so much, but it did. The trainer named it -- her, it seems-- Redface, after the lovely crimson head that reminded the hoppip of, well, herself, back when she was younger and much redder than she is now. To top things off, the trainer had picked that druddigon as their pokemon of choice to use to fight against gym leaders -- so it was a battler pokemon! And the hoppip got to see it train and fight other pokemon, some twice her size. Even when the druddigon lost, it kept its jagged head up in pride. That was the kind of pokemon that the hoppip had yearned to be all along -- not a pokemon people found cute, but one that people could respect.

And this, sadly, led the hoppip to despair, as reality came that she's not a druddigon, she was a hoppip, a hoppip destined to be seen as "cute" and harmless. And it ached her heart so much that she became weak, unable to perform. The trainer feared something was wrong and took her to a center, but all that they could tell her was that her hoppip seemed depressed. The nurse, however, suggested the crazy idea that maybe the trainer could try visiting Prof. Fennel and ask about her experimental dream therapy sessions. Seeing as the trainer was in the area and was willing to do whatever it took to help her dear pokemon, she decided to give it a try. Who knows, maybe the hoppip will be able to find exactly what she's been looking for in her dreams...

EXTRAS:

- Redface's "real" name (as a Hoppip) is Breezy. She likes her name fine in real life, but while in the Dream World she refuses to be called that. It doesn't fit her, after all.

- The body markings on her backside are not quite those of a Druddigon's winglike protrusions, but are instead shaped like Hoppip leaves and bearing her dream form's blue color scheme. Despite being fond of her new form, she can't quite forget about those lovely leaves of hers that her trainer works so hard to take care of so she can fly.

- Redface's gijinka form is loosely inspired by Breezy's trainer, who the hoppip always admired as the one who raised her and made her happy during her time as a Contest pokemon.

- Breezy doesn't hate Contests (and may in fact surprise people by given pointers on how to perform if given the chance), though she does hate being seen as cute and helpless. Hopefully this new form will help make sure that doesn't happen...

- Ironically, while she doesn't care to be seen as cute, she doesn't mind wearing things that would be considered cute, such as dresses. This may end up giving people mixed messages when they compliment what she's wearing and she ends up being miffed by it.

I must say, I'm powed by her history!! You sure have a nice imagination !!
I'm little surprised because Breezy chose to become such a mascoline pokemon gijinka, sense she actually LIKED Cute Contests... maybe is because it's the only powerful pokemon she has ever seen?

Thank you

And to answer your question for why such a different look for her dream self, well...It's a combination of things, really, though you're right in that the Druddigon Breezy met was the first one she ever saw that moved her to consider this choice.

As for the other reasons for the change in image: Breezy's been seen as a tiny cute thing for so long, of course she finds the idea of being something completely new appealing. The other is her view of what it means to be strong and powerful: in her experience, cute things are weak and only good for being looked at, while strong things are scary yet get respected as pokemon, which is what she's aiming for initially. Whether she actually sticks to that route or softens up over time as her definition of what it means to be strong will depend on how the RP will go...as well as, you know, getting in the game.

I like Redface/Breezy's background story. It creates an amazing conflict for the character and really sets the tone. I also like how you've hidden little reminders about Breezy in Redface's design. (Is there double meaning to the ability Mold Breaker?) Out of everything I love Redface's hands the most.
Typos in Background Story: trained is repeated twice, tie should be time.
I would erase the outline of her head in her back view.

Thanks so much! And thanks for pointing out the typos and stuff -- consider them fixed now. And you're right, the outline is unnecessary, so I omitted it as well

Double meaning with Mold Breaker? That's actually an awesome observation you made there. I admit my original reason for using that was a rather lame one -- it's the pokemon's Hidden ability, formerly known as its Dream World ability. But thinking it over, I like seeing it as Breezy's way of going above what she's expected to be and her determination to break out of the rut destiny has put her in, even if it's only in a dream. Or something like that.

You're welcome. I really hope to see the druddgion/hoppip in the group.
Also is Redface normal or shiny? Her body coloring is normal, but her clothing is shiny. It can be very confusing later on.

Well, *she's* normal, her clothes are shiny-themed. I figured it was fine since the rules say different colors are fine as long as you can still tell what pokemon she is.

Hmm... I guess. I'd check with one of the moderators though just to be sure. Usually consistency is best with gijinkas.

Well, it's no big deal. If they ask me to change her colors, I will.
