Description
As with the Rushuna picture that I recently posted, I thought it would be good to do some more fanart... but I hate doing fanart. I feel restricted... like I can't explore and have fun creating a character because everyone has certain expectations that must be met if you draw their favorite character(s). Being a fan of Fullmetal Alchemist, I thought I would do a picture of the show. As I was ready to sketch, I decided that I would redraw the Elric brothers as girls... therefore making them Etna (Ed) and Elle (Al) Elrich and dub it "Femetal Alchemist" (Female-metal Alchemist). I have seen some anime series in which they changed the gender of the main character but made the show similar to a popular show (think of Grenadier being a female version of Trigun).
It was fun trying to redesign Al's/Elle's armor. I eventually had to settle on a robot design that I created about 10 years ago for the female version here. Ed/Etna looks kinda plain and too much like the Ed character.
I will be selling prints of this at Sakura Con this year in the Artists Alley (table 3A).
Art time: Maybe 5-6 hours.
