Description I really wanted to draw something with a lot of details, so a iguana was a nice choose.
I have drawn this picture with Inktense pencils and the background with watercolours.

I immediately thought of Inktense.....okay, honestly,.....first I thought "Wow!".....then thought "I wonder if that's Inktense?"......lol.

Super color work and details!

Thank you! Do you also use Derwent Inktense?

You're very welcome!

I recently bought a small set, but, I haven't used them except for a couple of practice doodles. I do love the color richness I've seen others achieve with them though.

I have also a quite small set, 24 pencils, but I really love them!

A lot of details? No kidding...
Well, you succeeded with brilliancy.
The skin of the iguana is amazing and the log looks like living wood. The hole pic looks so alive! I'm just waiting for it to start running around in my room. Not that I would complain...
Really nice work.

This looks fantastic! I've never heard of Inktense colourpencils. Are they very expensive? I currently use Prismacolors and they eat right through all my money! XD

kolibri7 In reply to KristynJanelle [2010-05-24 10:34:11 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much! Yes, Derwent Inktense are quite expensive pencils... But they are absolutely the best colour pencils I know! When you draw with them and apply a light water wash you get a translucent, ink-like effect! Once dry, the colour will be permanent and can be worked over again with both soluble and non-soluble media. They are absolutely worth to try!

great work on detailing! i love the colors of the watercolors. The only thing I feel could be improved here is the contrast of the piece. It seems to be missing some true blacks to add more depth

Iยดm so happy you like it and many thanks for the advice! Yes, it could be a great solution to add more black to get more depth. Iยดm thankful to get advices and reminds, because then can I make the pictures even better

Such an amazing and vibrant piece, I can tell you put a lot of tlc into the scales! The background is great too, I wish I had so much patience for detail

Thank you! I think the eyes are always one of the most important things on the picture, because with them can you show the animals personality.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Pantherra In reply to kolibri7 [2010-04-20 11:07:45 +0000 UTC]

So true! Also with photography you really have to get the eyes sharp and most of the time you need a 'light dot' in the eye to give it life.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

kolibri7 In reply to Pantherra [2010-04-20 12:06:00 +0000 UTC]

I paint almost always a light dot in the eye, and now did I had to add also one in the iguanas eye!
Thanks for the remind!

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Pantherra In reply to kolibri7 [2010-04-24 08:47:57 +0000 UTC]

Ah yes white paint helps a lot! Sometimes I accidentally color over the 'white dot' in the eye and white paint is perfect for correcting it
