Nice art, but... did it bother anyone else that the answer to one of the biggest questions in the series was one of the oldest fanfic cliches they could have possibly used?

It didn't bother me. The cliche is so old because hints to it go back a long time. From the beginning it's been clear Rose was no ordinary quartz. The reveal didn't exactly come out of nowhere, they've been building up to it for at least 3 seasons. Either it's been planned from the beginning and all the evidence SU fans collected is true, or the creators heard about the theory and decided, "That's a great idea, let's run with it!". Whichever, I haven't been so stunned by a supposedly children's cartoon in a long time.
